Publisher's summary

Like many small towns, Buffalo Valley is dying. Stores are boarded up, sidewalks are cracked, houses are in need of coats of paint. But despite all that, there's a spirit of hope here, of defiance. The few people still left here are fighting for their town.

Lindsay Snyder is a newcomer. She's an outsider even though she spent childhood vacations here. Now she returns to see the family house again, to explore family secrets, and to reevaluate her life. And soon after she arrives, she meets a local farmer named Gage Sinclair....

Lindsay decides to stay in North Dakota. Her decision marks a new beginning for Buffalo Valley and for her. Because in this broken little town, she discovers the love and purpose she's been seeking.

Not as good as her other books.

I've listened to a lot of Debbie Macomber books and have enjoyed all of them with the exception of this one. The reason I say this is only because the men in the book were harsh to their women, very harsh at times. Maybe if I knew the reason Ms. Macomber wrote the book this in fashion, I could better understand. Some of the parts, especially about the young people and the new teacher were really enjoyable. So, with that said, it was an ok book that I struggled listening to but did finish.

Outstanding storyline and wonderful characters.

This stoey is true to American society today, if you are new to some small town, you the outsider and may do things differently that they cannot accept it.

Nice Escape

I enjoy Debbie Macomber. Her writing is sweetly romantic with just enough spice to keep it interesting.

PERFECT READ

As with all her books she tells her story of characters with great insight. The romance in her stories is just that, Romantic, without details left better to our imaginations.

I'm disappointed

I thought Debbie Macomber was a good writer. This book is not good. The narrator on this is just awful. The story line has no substance. The characters are dull and immature. Still can't figure out why she wrote it.

good book

Loved it. But it sometimes sounded to gruff or it could have been the narrator. Making the character sound mean.

Not The Best

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I guess I could say this was time well spent since the only thing I was doing at the time was driving.

Would you recommend Dakota Born to your friends? Why or why not?

No, I wouldn't. It's not the type of book I would ask them to read. It's long and drawn out. There are several story lines going on at one time and it's outdated. There seemed to be a physical spark between Gage and Lindsey but I couldn't understand how they had anything more than just that physical spark. They fought all the time, disagreed about everything, and overall were 2 very different people. The story line was flat and disappointing.

Would you be willing to try another one of Carly Robins’s performances?

I don't think so. I couldn't tell which character was supposed to be talking which made it very difficult to stay up with the story line.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No, I don't think I would.
