Community college professor Ethan Jones is living a lie. A precognitive agent known as Zephyr, Ethan is part of Phoenix, a covert government ESP program with global influence and powerful, hidden enemies. He's accustomed to subterfuge and deception, but when the Phoenix program is betrayed and shut down, Ethan is forced to cut all ties to the life he's made and everyone in it--including smart, beautiful Tori Connors, the one woman who tempted the cold agent to let down his impenetrable facade.
A chance encounter years later and thousands of miles away thrusts the lovers together again, and this time Tori refuses to let Ethan deceive her. She hasn't been able to forget him or the scorching passion they shared. Although Ethan is a dangerous enigma, she still desires him, and soon their inconvenient reunion becomes a temptation too strong to resist. With assassins closing in from all sides, Ethan and Tori embark on a desperate race for their lives--one that will put their tentative trust to the ultimate test.
Run by Tina Folsom
Motorcycle mechanic Scott Thompson isn't the laid-back loner he makes everyone believe. Three years ago he was known as Ace, one of an elite group of agents in a top-secret CIA program. However the preternatural ability that made him invaluable to the government could now be his downfall when his skill alerts him to a disaster bound to kill dozens of innocents unless he intervenes.
Journalist Phoebe Chadwick needs to persuade her editor to spare her from department cuts that threaten her job. When a mysterious stranger prevents an accident that would have killed her and many others, Phoebe goes after the story. But bad boy Scott is a reluctant hero unwilling to answer her questions despite the sizzling chemistry that ignites between them. As his enemies hunt him down, Scott must decide if he can trust Phoebe--and how far he's willing to go to keep her safe at his side.

Great book and awesome narration..

I liked this story! And as one reviewer said, “Male characters were just too unbelievably macho, built, smart, etc.,” which I happen to really like. Unlike a drop-dead gorgeous guy and a too plain, too plump, too invisible, woman that we’re supposed to believe the hero will fall for. Not ever gonna happen. AND I never got where this same reviewer got that Tori was a nitwit.

I did think Ethan’s codename, Zephyr, was pretty cool.

Anyway, I liked when Ethan and Tori were in the bathroom and she had him prove that he had precognitive abilities. That was kind of fun. I really couldn’t wait to see what happen to the Phoenix program that he had to run, and continue running, until he ran into Tori, whom he left 3 years before without a word. I was sorry about his dad even though he kind of deserved it for the hell he put Ethan through as a child. I was sorry to see that short story end but was happy to start the next.

There were a couple of explicit sex scenes in this and for BOTH stories the F-bomb was used 60 times.

Ok, Phoebe was written as a really stupid woman. Why the heck would a woman drive 300 miles to find a man she just met, and screwed, just to raise hell for him leaving her a note that said “you wouldn’t understand.” That would be the weakest kind of woman, or one that a little insane. I will definitely finish this but right now the heroine is TSTL, thanks to the author.

Phoebe did get better but I didn’t like this story as much as I did the first. It did get exciting, however. And as stupid as she was earlier I really didn’t want the assassin to finish strangling her because that would have just upset Scott. LOL…

Again there were 2 or 3 explicit sex scenes in these two stories but, thank God, it wasn’t erotic sex. Yuck.

And as a reminder, the F-bomb was used a total of 60 times, which is ok by me since I’m such a potty mouth.

As to the narrator: Eric Dove just gets better and better. As long as a male can make a woman sound like a woman and can laugh or whisper when it’s called for I’m pretty happy, and he does all that. He’s becoming one of my favor male narrators.

not as good as the first

I like this series. The stories are short, sexy and full of suspense. I wanted to smack the shit out of Phoebe because for a reporter she did some stupid shit and had no sense of self preservation but whatevs. I'm looking forward to the next set in the series. I hope it comes out in audio soon.

Cut - 3.5
Run - 3

narrator - 4
