Publisher's summary

By NYT and USA Today best-selling author Michelle M. Pillow

Terminally ill, Cassandra Nevin has come to the ocean to live out her days on a boat with a bunch of scientists who don't even know she's sick - or that she's not even a scientist. When something from the depths of the abyss attacks their boat, leaving her to drown, she knows it's her time. But then the unimaginable happens - she lives.

Iason the Hunter doesn't understand why the woman he's trying to save from death seems insistent he save anyone but her. Duty bound to try and rescue whoever he can; he takes the woman into Deep Ocean, to his home beneath the waves. But it would seem a watery grave wasn't the only thing threatening his new charge's life. To try and save her from her illness would mean possible disgrace and being banned from ever swimming in the ocean again. But what else can he do? From the first moment he saw her, she had command over his heart.

I Enjoyed It

This is the second book in this lovely series, and whilst it's not absolutely necessary to listen to them in order but it does in my opinion mean you get more from each individual story. The world the author has created here about the Mers is so well done the books contain an overarching storyline about the Mer-people that continues throughout the series.

This book concentrates on Cassandra, a terminal cancer patient, who as if the cancer wasn't bad enough found herself on a boat which sank! Lucky for her, she is rescued and cared for by Iason, a mer hunter. Imagine her surprise when she is told that curing her cancer is possible here and that living in Atlantes has many more benefits too than were possible above water.

The story is exciting, has some drama and intrigue, there's even a villainess thrown into the mix which all adds to the excitement.

The narration of the book by Rebecca Cook is very well done, she has no difficulty bringing the characters to life which added immensely to my enjoyment of this well-crafted and interesting story.

Good

I liked this book much better than the first! The good characters were likable. The bad characters made you want to punch them. The storyline kept me interested. what more can you want.

The narrator does a good job.

Fantastic

This is audiobook 2 in Michelle M Pillow's Lords of the Abyss series and I must say.....damn it is good!
I love series that follow the same time-line but with different perspectives. This is Iason's story whereas book 1 was Caderyn's. Iason finds his heart in the form of a young dying woman named Cassandra almost instantly. Their's is a truly romantic sexy story. Halfway through though, Cassandra not knowing the dangers, finds herself in Maia's clutches. No, I didn't call her "queen" because she isn't, she's just a biotch. Will Cassandra escape? Will she get her HEA with Iason?? I know the answers and you can too if you listen to the book. It is well worth it & highly recommend. It may also be listened to as a standalone but Michelle M Pillow audiobooks are worth purchasing in whole series

Awesome

This book was so good. Cassandra was a sickly human woman with cancer. When she was saved by Iason, a handsome merman, her life changed. Iason will do what ever it takes to heal and protect his human charge, which is now his wife. He even risked his reputation as well as his life to do whatever it took to keep his love safe. This is a wonderful book. The narrator has a smooth easy voice to listen to and the story is romantic as well as steamy hot with a touch of drama and danger.

Book 2 - Lords of the Abyss

Well written, well narrated steamy romance. This is book 2 in Pillow's Lords of the Abyss series and is the story of main characters Cassandra and Iason. Both are looking for something to live for and find it when they find each other. While Iason is quicker to accept their fate, it takes a series of tragic events to show her where her heart truly lies. Sweet but with lots of heat, this romance read will please with it's tales of mer folk and gods and goddesses in it's undertone. Wonderfully narrated!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Good Addition to the Series

This is the second book in the Lords of the Abyss Series. Cassandra and Iason’s story is original, emotional, steamy, and fast-paced. This is a good addition to the Series. I liked the characters, and the world building. Rebecca Cook did a great job with the narration. Looking forward to listening to Captive of the Deep, the next book in the Series.

Commanding the Tides

This is the 2nd book in the Lords of the Abyss series. Cassandra is on a scientific expedition ship when it is attacked by a sea monster and sinks. Ethan and the other hunters from the Mer people try to stop it but they are too late to save the ship so they saved the 2 women from the ship and bring them to their domed city beneath the ocean. Bridget's story is the first book in this series while Cassie's is the second. In this story Cassie is terminally ill and on the ship mainly considering it as one last great adventure or escape. When Ethan saved her there was an instant connection between the two. Will Ethan and the Mer peoples power of healing be able to save Cassie or will the illness take her now that she has found true love and wants to live? And can she believe in their love enough to fight for it or will she try to run away again. These are some of the questions posed by this story. You will have to read it to find out but I can say it has a satisfying conclusion with each story being part of the main continuing story in the Lords of the Abyss series. I enjoyed this story and look forward to the next.

Iason and Cassandra

Book 2 of the series. Loved it, such a fun series! Iason and Cassandra’s story.
The story rehashes some important points in the beginning. This is valuable if you had not read the previous book, or it’s been a while. It sets the story off to a good start. In this story the hunters save 3 women and capture 2 of the sea beasts. Cassandra is dying of cancer when the ship sank. These two have chemistry. It’s clear they are meant for each other, even though Cassandra fights it. Iason is willing to put his reputation and profession on the line to win her. Several hot scenes in this romance. The Olympians are up to their tricks causing mayhem. The story and characters are well developed. The narrator is great, I truly enjoy listening to her performance. I am looking forward to book 3!
