Publisher's summary

Jonas needs Tate. He just doesn't know it yet.

Or at least he doesn't want to admit it. Because there is no way Jonas Ashcroft is gay. He's a straight, carefree frat boy player, just like any good son of a conservative state senator. If only his struggle to convince everyone - especially himself - didn't leave him so miserable. No matter how many girls or bottles he drowns himself in, Jonas can neither escape nor accept who he is.

Enter Tate. He's smart and confident and instantly sees right through Jonas' surly exterior. Sure, he's done things in life he's not proud of, but he knows who he is and what he wants. And what he wants is Jonas. As their easy friendship intensifies into something more, Tate introduces Jonas to a life he's never known. One filled with acceptance and sex and a love that terrifies and excites them both.

But some inner demons refuse to be shaken off so easily. When Jonas' old life barges in, he faces a shattering choice, one that could destroy everything he and Tate have fought so hard for. Sometimes love just isn't enough - and sometimes it's exactly what you need.

A simple feel-good read.

A. M. Arthur writes as if she knows her way around the male mind. That is no small accomplishment. Many female writers of male to male romance don’t seem to have a clue about the sometimes bizzarro world of the male psyche. What is equally worse is that they often get the physicality of male romance all wrong when they create the gay male version of the straight lover that their female readers would want to have. There were only a few times when Miss Arthur fell into the use of the romantic fiction tropes so often overused by female writers of gay male romance.

The trick is to keep it simple as that best reflects the most common mentality of a twenty-something gay male. Ms. Arthur does that and still is able to create characters that are compelling and fun to hang out with.

It is a good story and it is the first in a three-book series. I very much look forward to reading me to others.

A totally satisfying story

Where does Come What May rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Among the best

Jonas, he repressed not only his sexuality, but his desire to please his father to the point of living someone else's life. It was such a pleasure to see him gradually find his way to happiness with the help of Tate and his Aunt and Uncle.

Which character – as performed by Tyler Stevens – was your favorite?

Jonas. Tyler gave Jonas a super sexy voice

Who was the most memorable character of Come What May and why?

Tate, he was the hero, the one who patiently shocked Jonas out of his life of lies and taught him to live for himself. Jonas couldn't have found a better life coach.

Any additional comments?

This book sounded like it might be something I would like and I decided to listen on a Coast to Coast flight, I figured I could always find something else if I didn't find it interesting. Wow, that was the fastest 4 hour flight I've ever experienced. The story starts off with a slow burn between the two main characters. Tate, an openly gay 23 year old who runs a homeless shelter for LGBTQ teens across the street from the Thrift Store where Jonas is working for his Aunt and Uncle for 9 months after he got kicked out of College for a hazing incident. It's a joy to follow the banter between the two from their first meeting. There's a little snarkiness between the two but Tate hones in immmediately on the mystery of Jonas's life story, a self described straight frat boy. Tate is always stepping a little bit over the line with his questions and Jonas is frequently giving up way more info that he intends. Jonas has a deep sexuality secret that he has repressed for years and Tate senses that and patiently brings it out. Little by little Jonas accepts the fact that he has been living someone else's life to please his father. I won't give the rest away, but there is a bit of angst here and there in the story, but nothing that couldn't be fixed. I loved the book, and the ending was very satisfying. It was such a pleasure to see an uptight poor little rich boy with loveless parents find his happiness in the simple life with true friends and a new family. I've already listened to the book twice now, it's so good. The Narrator, Tyler Stevens, was excellent, he changes voices for each character. I especially found his voice for Jonas to be super sexy. It really adds to the story IMO.

Cute story

Very cute story. Very little angst. A coming out story, with its challenges. I might continue to read the other books in the series of the price goes down. I think there a bit on the pricey side. Most books are I guess with the price increases 😡the narrator did a wonderful job!

Heart warming YA.

I look forward to listening to this book each day, as it was delightfully performed about young men coming to an understanding of themselves and people helping teens and young adults. The young adult male characters had some graphic sex, but it wasn’t overwhelming the book. Overall tastefully done and showed love

Good read.

You know, when you choose a book you never know if it's going to be one that either grips you and drags you in whole heartedly or you struggle to make it through it. Well this one grabbed me feet first and I was lost in each character as if they were sitting right in front of me. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and found myself having to force myself to put it down so I could go to sleep. I love a story of a friendship that blossoms into love and a life that is set free to live the way it was meant to be. The narrator did an awesome job with each character and relayed all the emotions needed and felt in every situation. Thanks to the author for such a heart felt story.

A Wonderful Life and Love Story

Two boys, well men, from different backgrounds meet and fall in love. It's a heartbreaking story as the past is revealed, and even more so when tough decisions lead to more. I laughed, cried, and even cheered for joy throughout this whole story.

I had not read this story ahead of listening to the audiobook, and think that Tyler Stevens really brought this story alive.
