Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author Maya Banks’ enthralling saga continues as two men, and one resilient woman hiding from the past, brace themselves for an emotional storm of unavoidable danger and unmatched desire….

Lauren Wilder fell for the wrong man, trusted the wrong man, and she paid a very dear price for it. Now broken and wounded, she's retreated to the bosom of the Colter family and the unshakeable love and support they offer. But the man she once loved and trusted is not without his own power, and he'll use every bit of his money and resources to make sure he gets Lauren back, no matter whom he destroys doing it.

Liam and Noah were hired by Lauren's brother to watch over her. But with danger looming, they head to the Colorado mountains - where Lauren has found temporary sanctuary. In her wounded eyes, Liam and Noah see the woman she once was - and could be again. They’re determined to show her everything a man can be - someone who will love her, cherish her, satisfy her, and when the time comes, put their very lives on the line for her.

OH WHY MUST THIS SEXY SAGA END?

Well in this final Colter story I had to bid a sad farewell to the small town of Clyde Colorado but more importantly to all the Colter family members who I love and who's exploits have entertained me as they are an unusual but very loyal family unit. All I can now hope for a Novella which may tie the loose ends up nicely.

This is the story of Max's Sister Lauren, a sweet but mentally scarred woman who has escaped an abusive relationship by bad guy Joel Knight so has disappeared to Clyde Colorado to be with Max and has been warmly welcomed by all the Colter family who now treat her as one of their own. But her sexy tattooed bodyguards Liam and Noah (yes I'm drooling) who were hired by Max but left behind, desperately need to see her because they feel she's hiding something (she is she is) and may be in danger but also because they both have deep feelings for her and, after a heart-to-heart, they make her a very tempting offer (take it girl). But before long the past catches up with her once again which puts everyone she loves in danger and threatens to destroy her newfound happiness.... and the men she's come to love.

A beautifully written story that's got suspense, danger, murder, secrets, love, loyalty, courage, commitment, passion, hot ménage sex, and a loving family who stick together when the going gets tough. There's also great characters and familiar names from previous books who all help to make this an enjoyable and entertaining ending to the Colter family saga.

Worth a credit? MB has entertained, excited and enthralled me in every one of these Colter books so YES very creditworthy and I'm looking forward to seeing what tasty delight she'll serve up next.

Sad to say goodbye 2 the awesome Colters

Any additional comments?

Colters’ Woman was the first Maya Banks books I read. I instantly fell in love with Adam, Ethan, and Ryan. I was so happy when Maya decided to expand the world of Clyde, Colorado and give us Colters’ Lady, Colters’ Daughter and Colters’ Promise. It was bittersweet to read Colters’ Gift and have to close the door on all these characters who feel like family.

As the story opens we see Lauren, months after the terrible ordeal with her ex, finally settling into the small Colorado mountain town. She has a job and a new place to live and has slowly regained her independence. Trying to move on and leave her painful past behind, Lauren gets an unexpected visit from tall, dark and tattooed, Liam Prescott and Noah Sullivan. Liam and Noah have been on a wild goose chase for months and came to Clyde for answers and to claim the woman they both love. What has Lauren been keeping from them? Does she return their feelings as well?

Lauren can’t believe her luck when not one but two men want to claim her. But can the relationship really work with two headstrong alpha males? As they explore the possibility of a relationship, the trio’s world is turned upside down when Lauren’s past literally comes crashing down on them. Can Liam and Noah save the woman they love from being thrust back into the previous hell she barely survived before?

It is no secret that Maya Banks is one of my very favorite authors. I absolutely love her character-driven stories and this story is no different. It was wonderful to see all the Colters again. It’s hard to believe that only a few years separate the books but many years have aged all those characters we love. There are a few adult themes addressed in the book that may be uncomfortable for some readers consisting of a violent and somewhat sadistic nature.

At the end of the book we are treated with a novella, Colters’ Legacy, that concludes the series. We find out what happens with Lily’s pregnancy; Lauren, Liam and Noah’s future; and a final scene with Adam, Ethan, Ryan and Holly that had me balling my eyes out. I will miss all of these beloved characters so very much.

I think that’s what makes a great author. Someone who makes us laugh, cry, and give us unforgettable characters that change our outlook. Maya writes about strong, tough men who love, respect and takes care of the women in their lives. Although fictitious, I often wonder if men like these truly exist. Thank you, Maya for helping us to dream and for sharing this beautiful story that is The Colters.

Love the Colters - Hate Max

I really enjoyed the first, second and fourth books in the Colter Legacy. The fantasy of having multiple men who love & worship one woman is sexy and fun, if not realistic.

I hated book 3, in which Callie Colter (only daughter) allowed Max (billionaire jerk) to dominate her body & soul, supposedly in a loving way. Sorry, but hitting another human being is always wrong - I find men who enjoy hurting women revolting, not attractive.

Now in Colter's Gift (book 5), Max's sister Lauren is recovering from an extremely abusive and violent relationship with a criminal. I found it ironic that Max feels entitled to hurt & manipulate women but was outraged when Lauren was victimized by another jerk.

Luckily for Lauren, she has 2 gorgeous bodyguards who treat her with respect, consideration and gentleness as she heals. There is some graphic violence when the criminal sends men to silence Lauren, but mostly the story is about her learning to survive and trust herself.

The Series Got Better & Less Creepy Toward The End

Would you be willing to try another book from Maya Banks? Why or why not?

Absolutely! The series got better & less creepy toward the end...it began with 3 brothers sharing a wife (eeeew) but got infinitely better. Other great books are the Breathless Series, Sweet Series - she also has a great historical series The Montgomerys and Armstrongs & action in KGI Series.

I'm not a fan of shifter/sci-fi so I haven't listened to any of those.

Summary:

What does Freddie Bates bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I've grown to really like Freddie Bates. He gives each man a separate 'voice' and his female characters are well done as well.

Any additional comments?

Sure...the plot was a bit weak, but I don't always listen for a complex story. *wink* This is like chocolate...no nutritional value but AWFULLY good.

For mature listeners as there is strong language and some descriptions of intimacy.

Great series!

I’m so sad the series is over with this one. I wish there was at least an extended epilogue to find out how their lives moved on from here. I want to hear about Lily and the boys’ baby, I want Callie and Max to become parents, I want to know that Lauren comes back stronger. And Sweet Baby Jesus, I *NEED* to hear about the parents meeting each other. I thought for sure it was Holly calling out in the hospital hallway.

Anyway, the whole series is worth the credits, the hours, everything!

Great series.

The only thing I didn't like about this book, is its the last one. the whole series is good, the characters are interesting, I really cared about them. I've tried to figure out if the author closes up all the lose end in another series but I'm not sure. I hope she does and I just haven't found the book yet.

This was intense but so Raw and Real....

It was a Real and Raw story, I found myself crying, laughing, and just really enjoying Maya taking an idea and reviving it! I felt like this story really brought the whole idea back to life! Bravo!!! Bravo!!! The storyline was a little squeamish at times but so is life🤷🏽‍♀️.....

Just one more?

This series is one of my favorites. Wish the author had given us one more book to let us follow the Colter clan a little longer.
