Fourteen months ago, Lady Rhoslyn lost her husband and infant son to a fever. Now, by order of King Edward I, she is yanked from the healing tranquility of a convent to marry the king's favored bastard knight. Rhoslyn has no intention of returning to the home where her husband and child died. Neither does she intend to hand over her fortune to the "dragon" - no matter his sweet promises and warm kisses.
Talbot St. Claire tires of war. Seventeen years is enough. King Edward will never release him from service, but the king promises Talbot will find some peace in front of his own hearth. Talbot expects to find a horse-faced, hostile woman in the Scottish heiress Edward commands him to marry. Instead, he discovers a fiery Highland beauty worthy of a man's respect...and love. Talbot determines to do anything to win his new bride's acceptance, anything except the one thing she demands: betray his king and embrace his Scottish heritage.

Held my breath many times while listening!
Any additional comments?
There's a time when you're listening to a good book that you can get so wrapped up in it and forget it's not happening right in front of you. That happened so many times in this book. Kudos to the author and narrator.
This was a good love story and the bad guys had a great degree of ick, but the action sequences were incredible!! Heart poundingly incredible. Several times I even stopped breathing the action was so intense.
I didn't like the ending (a major issue was not succinctly resolved) but that did not deter from such a wonderful listen.

A Well Written Story
I enjoyed this story. The many twist and turns that were taken made the story well worth listening to. A widow is married by decree of the king to a trusted knight. A grandfather who will do anything for his granddaughter. A step brother who is angry, filled with envy and insane who resorts to whatever he feels he can to get his way. Kidnapping, rape, chases and all manner of evil add detail to the story. Add to all of this wars, betrayal, and sword play and you have a historical scottish romance that will make a rainy day listening fest enjoyable.

Great story but.
I really thought the story line was good but was really annoyed with the "he said, she said" every few minutes. I have never heard a audio book before were the characters where identified by he said or she said. That took away from the smooth structure of the reading.
