Publisher's summary

Lucas Thorn wasn't born a cheater. All it took was a single moment - say, a certain disastrous incident on the night before his wedding - and boom. Reputation destroyed forever and always. So now he owns it. He has a lady friend for every night of the week (except Sundays - God's day and all), and his rules are simple: No commitments. No exceptions.

But a certain smart-mouthed, strawberry blonde vixen is about to blow that all to hell.

Avery Black has never forgiven Lucas for cheating on her sister. And suddenly being forced to work with him is pretty much a nightmare on steroids. Of course, it does afford her the opportunity to make his life as difficult as possible. But no good revenge scheme comes without payback. Because he didn't become the Lucas Thorn without learning a few things about women.

Now Avery's lust for vengeance has turned into, well, lust. And if Lucas stops cheating, it's definitely not because he's falling in love...

THIS WAS HILARIOUS ~ I LOVE IT!

I downloaded a few audios to take with me, and my husband on a trip to visit someone facing a serious health crisis, and I am so glad this was one of the audios! I love a good funny story that can brighten your day, make you laugh, and help take your mind off the more serious side of life. For me, this was a great little stress reliever. Both the story and performance was hilarious! I laughed so hard, it brought tears to my eyes! 😂

Cheater was my first Rachel Van Dyken's story, and "WOW", I was impressed with her ability to write one humorous scene after another. At first, I was concerned about the direction the author was taking the plot, because I really don't like cheaters, but this turned out to be a wonderful sweet love story. The plot was fun, light, and very entertaining, and the dialogue was witty, but the narration was the "cherry on top"! I LOVED both Lucy, and Alexander's performance. Alexander had me laughing from not only the story, but from how he portrayed the characters.

Yeah, this story may be a little on the silly side, but it's an excellent choice for anyone looking for a little comic relief. It reminded me a lot of the motto: Live, Laugh and Love!

Very Funny Book

Well written characters, great writing style, captivating storyline and swoon-worthy moments.

Sure, the title, the main theme of the book set a certain mood. You are prepared to see an arrogant, heartless guy who goes through women like coffee cups from his favorite Starbucks. But... I didn't buy it. Just picking up on his thoughts, the way he treated women, didn't give me an image of a "cheater".
And not to be difficult or anything, but those women did agree with the arrangement he offered. He didn't lie to them, didn't hide the other relationship. All parties were well aware of what was happening. And you see, that's not exactly cheating.
Doesn't mean I agree with Lucas's ways, but if that's what had helped him to dull the ache in his heart, than who am I to judge as a reader?
But his world is thrown upside down once Avery storms back into his life.
I like her. She's a little impulsive, and sometimes her actions and thoughts seem too much, a little staged, but she's fun.
I'm a big sucker for an easy banter between main characters - when the conversation flows and feels so realistic, I'm the happiest reader in the world.
There is so much chemistry between Avery and Lucas, I fell in love with the couple almost immediately.
It's was a good and fast listen for me, and I'm looking forward to discovering author's other titles.

Lucy Rivers was excellent with all the voices in the story however, Alexander Cendese's female voices were not so good. I think one narrator "Lucy Rivers" would have been enough.

A LOL BREATH OF FRESH AIR

This book was absolutely hilarious.. with fast-flowing witty sarcastic banter between the handsome charismatic no strings stud Lucas Thorn (who has different girlfriends for each day of the week except Sunday) and his new tempting feisty Intern Avery Black. Because these two characters have history.. Lucas was engaged to Avery's sister but it all went horribly wrong the night before their wedding four years previously and they haven't seen each other since then. Avery needs her job and has to accept that Lucas is a very different man from the one that she had been close friends with, the one she secretly crushed on when she was 17.. and the one that chose the wrong sister. But, the more they interact together, the closer they get.. and the deeper they fall.

Avery's innocent lie was only meant to get Lucas out of trouble with his sister.. unfortunately their 'fake' relationship spectacularly backfires and spirals out of all proportion on both of them causing hilarious situations and witty scenes. But, when tempers flare, the lines between pretend and real get blurred and their volatile chemistry ignites their banked passion. Will Avery just be Lucas' new Saturday hookup.. or can he be happy with just one woman.. if she's the right woman - and can he be forgiven for his past mistakes?

Worth a credit? It had fun flirty banter, barbed banter and heated banter and it was a lol entertaining story with two very likeable characters who found themselves tangled up in a funny fictional web of their own making and the dual POV narration was very good too. So, yes it definitely is creditworthy, but at $7.34 I eagerly snapped this bargain up and saved my credit for another time. RVD skilfully blended humor, heart, heat and second chances together and made magic with it.

Narrator ruined it for me...

The male narrator's voice for a female was not good and quite annoying. This made the story hard to listen too. The story was also CONSTANTLY funny dialogue, which you'd think would be awesome, but hours of funny talk straight got old really fast. I wish I would have like this better but I just couldn't.🙁

You say "Cheater", I say "Treater"

This was a fun book to listen to, from the very beginning. There was a good story throughout. Funny, so funny - I laughed out loud. The narrators did a good job with their roles as these two sassy characters with spunky dialogue.

I liked the story that unfolded below the surface. No spoilers from me. I would recommend it for a light, entertaining listen.

Equal Opportunity Hole User

This story is quite humorous. There were many scenes that had me in stitches. My favorite description was, "gray eyebrows drawn together like two sexually frustrated caterpillars" -- wow, the visual of that! The witty bickering and banter kept the tone of the story light and interesting. There were times when I really didn't like Lucas Thorne, but he mostly redeemed himself, at least in my eyes. I have read one other book by Rachel Van Dyken and I really enjoyed that one as well so she's now on my author's to watch for list.

Lucy and Alexander did a really good job narrating this story. It was a very enjoyable listen. Would gladly listen to other books by these two.

Definitely worth the credit. This listen brighten a tiring day for me.

Still giggling

Lucas is a cheater. He has kept his heart on lockdown, keeping a different girl for each day of the week, all the while keeping a secret crush buried deep.

Avery is just trying to make it, with an over zealous appetite and newly acquired internship. With Lucas. The same Lucas who left her sister at the altar.

Out of familial obligation, Avery is holding this grudge for Lucas despite both having always had feelings. It gets complicated. Really complicated.

This audio was hilarious! I was left giggling and laughing out loud inappropriately and I just loved it. It's PG-13, at best. Although implied, the heat and sparks were there and blaring. I couldn't get enough of this slow burn build up.

Lucy Rivers is great. I always enjoy her performances. Alexander Cendese plays an excellent confident, alpha male. His tone and timber was spot on. My only complaint is that his female voice reminds me of a 5th grade boy mocking a girl. Wasn't believable at all and pulled me from the story a few times. It wasn't anything I couldn't get over tho because this book was well written and well executed. Love it.

As ridiculous and her others

Ridiculousness all day long. Could finish it. I might have to change genres.

Entertaining

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this audiobook because it's a genuinely fun read and listen. The story - to me - started off a little disturbing until a little later when it's explained away. Lucas and Avery's story is about unrequited love with an element that isn't used that much in romance stories.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character is Lucas' mother, because she has no filter and is funny af.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was when Lucas was talking with his mother and they had a conversation regarding her chicken apron. Mr. Cendese did a great job narrating this scene.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

If I could listen to this book in one sitting I would.

Any additional comments?

This is the first book by Ms Van Dyken that I've finished. Wasn't a fan of her other new adult books. With that said, I was a bit reluctant to get Cheater. The only reason why I bought it was because of the narrators. Lucy Rivers is one of my favorites. I'm glad I did take a chance on this book. Her narration made it very easy to identify with the characters. And that is soooo important with audiobooks.

Meh...

This was not very original. It's been done and done better. Characters were repetitive, boring and too silly. I skipped through some of it because I knew how it would end and I was correct.
