Publisher's summary

Finnian Kane, famous master of illusion, mentalist, and renowned atheist, has a crisis of faith after her sister's death. She rents a cottage in the village of Axedale in Kent, desperately trying to find a safe haven from the intrusive media to grieve and work out how to move on.

The Reverend Bridget Claremont makes it her mission to help the enigmatic Finnian find her faith in life again. Bridge has long yearned for a life partner, and her best friend's wedding has intensified that desire. But when you're a lesbian vicar in a small English village, it's not easy to find your perfect match.

Their chemistry is clear from the start, despite their different beliefs and Bridge insisting Finn isn't her type. But will the mentalist find the magic that can charm the vicar?

Charming and steamy romance

This follow-up to Courting the Countess was as good, if not better, than the original. The charming village of Axedale and its villagers set an idyllic scene. The story is deep and very sensual as it focuses on an atheist struggling with her faith after losing her sister and while falling in love with the vicar, whose past includes dom/sub role playing. Very hot sex scenes accompany a captivating romance. And Nicola Victoria Vincent gives another impeccable performance as narrator and queen of every UK accent possible.

Excellent audio.

WOW! Charming the Vicar has to be one of the best of the hundreds of audios I have listened to. Excellent story. Excellent narration by Nicola Victoria Vincent. Jenny Frame hits it out of the park with this book.

Nicola Victoria Vincent's voice is so sexy...

Vincent could make the phonebook sound sexy. It's a good thing that Frame's books are much, much better than the phonebook! I am anxiously waiting for book 3 in the series.

Story could have been better, narration fantastic

Would you consider the audio edition of Charming the Vicar to be better than the print version?

This one started out with a bang, but fizzled quickly. I love the opposites attract theme, especially with a mentalist involved, but Atheists don't give up their rational conclusions to vicars this easily, not even for hot sex. It seemed not just implausible, but disrespectful. It could have been treated so much better - our mentalist needn't have capitulated her beliefs for the relationship to succeed. The tension could have been so much more delicious without complete capitulation.

If you’ve listened to books by Jenny Frame before, how does this one compare?

Similar in many ways.

Loved it

It took me a minute to get used to the juxtaposition of Bridge’s profession and her lifestyle but once I did, I kind of fell in love with the idea. I am a long time agnostic so when I realized this series is kind of rooted in Christianity, I almost didn’t listen to the books but the first one reeled me in so I gave this one a go. This book is extra heavy on the religion and I normally immediately stop listening to religious, preachy books but this wasn’t preachy at all and actually opened my mind a bit more. I love the idea of religions that accept people regardless of who they are and this book really gave me a glimpse of that. I loved it.

I really tried

I wanted to really love this book. It just was so out there i couldn’t make a connection with it. I felt really forced. Best part of the book for me was a bit of Harry and Annie. Maybe I’m just a hopeless romantic and couldn’t get into the weird kink with the boy name calling.

Charming the Listener

"Axdale had a gay, female vicar in heels and a biker jacket. Had she walked into the Twilight Zone?" Famed Mentalist and atheist Finnian Kane has no idea what she's in for when she selects the small English village of Axdale as her retreat from the world and her sorrows. Narrator Nicola Victoria Vincent narrates this tale of heartache, love and loss, and healing. Not thwarted by a chilly reception, Reverend Bridget Claremont continues her attempts to help Finn heal. Despite their growing attraction for each other, the church prevents Bridget from having relationships with women. Together, they discover that coming home isn't always easy. Vincent delivers wonderful characterization of leads and supporting cast, though the pacing sounds hurried at times. She heats up the sex scenes, stepping into Mistress Black in much the same way that Bridget does with firm and sensual tones. Finn's need also amplifies these scenes as she pleads and takes. Take some time for yourself and enjoy this delectable blend of sweet and spicy!
