How could the performance have been better?

Anything could have helped this performance the voices were hard to hear at times, the intonations were terrible. This was a complete disaster.

Any additional comments?

This was a new author for me and I purchased the book because of others reviews on audio. I will never do that again.

It's really a romance novel and not a good one

I thought this was going to be mostly a thriller, but tho not quite a bodice ripper it's in that genre. Then there's all this angst between the two main characters who realize on first meeting they need to be together, but are on different sides of the law. This "we want to but we can't" conundrum cycles thru way too many scenes to the point of repetitive tedium. I almost quit a couple of times. The narrator has a peculiar cadence which was initially off putting and that I never warmed up to. He uses a falsetto voice for two different characters. I've never met one person who talked like that never mind two in a book with like a dozen characters.
