Publisher's summary

I owe him a debt. A big one. The payment can't be settled with money or favors.

He only wants one thing. Me.

Every action gets a reward. A button. Once I fill his jar with 365 buttons, he'll let me go. He'll let me walk away. But I have to earn every single one. By submitting to the darkest, cruelest, and most beautiful man I've ever known.

Trigger warning: There are some dark and disturbing scenes of abuse and punishment.

Review of the Trilogy

I'm putting my review of all 3 books here in the first one to give you an idea of whether it is worth the investment of time and $. The simple answer is YES! It is a many-layered story that I believe is much better experienced than described, so I will not hint at details or give spoilers but will just give you an overall idea of what to expect. The 3 books are well-written and well-narrated with dual narration, reflecting Crow's and Pearl's POV. There are elements of terror, violence, rape, kidnapping, betrayal, uncertainty, tenderness, love, loyalty and even some humor and a satisfying epilogue. The 3 books are definitely worth the time investment.

But are they worth the credits? YES. I myself am not a big fan of paying for multiple installments for one story. (I'm a tightwad--whatever.) This is why I usually am a bit leery of trilogies and straight-up avoid serials. However, I can be tempted to give them a try IF: 1- All books are available now or are scheduled to be released soon...like really soon, and 2- All books are at least 6-8 hours in length to be worth a credit OR priced at a cash rate that is reasonable. This series meets MY criteria. I will not soon forget this story and will never look at buttons the same way. Hope this helps :)

Buttons Will Be Our Currency

Pearl is kidnapped and sold into sex slavery. A cruel and sadistic monster, named Bones, buys her because he likes that she's fiesty and looks forward to breaking her. Here are examples of the violence she suffers from Bones: tie her down with painful ropes and fuc* her in the a** again and again to the point of her being barely concious and bleeding. He liked to play hide-n-seek and when he found her he liked to beat her with a bat until she passed out. Tie her up and whip her until bleeding. If you can get thru the part with Bones the rest of the book is good.

Crow and Bones are rivals. Crow and his brother Cain steal Pearl from Bones with the intent to rape and beat her and then return her to Bones. Crow instead decides to keep her for himself. Crow is a dominent and has a play room but he doesn't get off on causing pain like Bones.

This is the first book in the series and does have a to-be-continued ending. Looking forward to the next book.

My first book by Penololpe Sky and I'm looking forward to reading more from her.

Michael Ferraiuolo and Samantha Cook give a captivating performance.

Absolutely worth a credit/$$

WTF So Many 5 Star Reviews!!!!

Absolutely terrible. Horrifying and truly hated the story line. I stopped listening and couldn't finish it. I'm sorry how is this under a romance heading? I'm so horrified and traumatised just listening what this girl is going through I have no desire to listen to the rest of the series. How this even got promoted as Mrs 50 shades blows my mind. This isn't love or romance or even sexy. This is about a girl whose raped and beaten, turned into a sex slave. I mean really the book is so ridiculous and just stupid.

Michael Ferraiuolo and Samantha Cook were really good with the delivery of the story but the story was just crap.

My god this audiobook.

This is one of the best darkest books I have listened to in, ever. I adore Pearl. I love strong, brave and daring female characters and she is one. I hate her time with bones. That was very difficult to read and the abuse triggers are definitely there. I had to stop and take a few small breaks but was always drawn back to the story. Crow, what a man, what a man what a very fine mine, to steal a lyric. I want to visit his vineyard and maybe a couple of other things. I hope the next books reveal more of the human in him that Pearl is starting to reach. If you like the dark this is the steamy book for you.
The narration added so much to the story. Both the voices were perfect for the characters. Let me just say I have fallen for Michael Ferraiuolo, I have listened to others of his works and he is always brilliant. I love his accents as well as the timbre of his voice. I'm moving on to the next book, Buttons and Hate, and looking forward to more from this author and these wonderful voice actors.

WELL THIS WAS A SURPRISE

I did not think I would like this book because of the violent content however this has turned out to be a real keeper. This story is very well written and narrated which allowed me to fall in love with Crow. This was a pleasant surprise. I can't wait for book two.

phenomenal read

If you love dark romance, this is definitely a must read. It was so completely sick twisted that you can't put it down wondering what's going to happen next.

✫✫ 4 Stars ✫✫

I went into this a little unsure after asking friends what they thought and I got a 50/50 response so I decided to try it and make my own opinion and I really enjoyed it. So far it has been a little predictable since I've read so many "sold into slavery turned romance" books but I think what I liked most about this book was that Pearl is a bit of a bad ass, in the beginning especially. No matter what happens she doesn't let anything break her. I also really liked that Crow isn't your typical bad guy turned good, he was never really bad to begin with. He tries to be but just doesn't have it in him. Don't get me wrong, he isn't your typical nice guy... He did steal her and is holding her captive. I found this story kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to see where their relationship will go next. I loved the give & take that goes on between these two characters also. Starting book 2 asap!

The narration is good. I enjoy both narrators but I will say I expected Crow to have an accent and neither of the narrators give him one. He does live in Italy so I guess I just assumed. Also in the beginning with Bones he has an accent so maybe Crow isn't supposed to????

Omgawd! This is a book that is better than I imagined.

I can’t believe I debated over getting it. Do I spend a token? A button or buy it outright. Either. And I’ll buy the next one.

The reviews that talk about “abuse” ignore. This is fiction. Not real. A story to get lost in. Is some of it hard to read? Sure. It’s supposed to be. That’s why it’s a work of fiction. And it’s a great work of fiction. It engages your emotions and captures you into the world of make believe.

It says it is a six book series, I just hope I don’t become bored with it. Right now, it has me captured.

This book is worth every penny, amazing. Simply. Amazing.

The dumbest book I've ever experienced.

I hate myself for even finishing this. Seriously. The writing is deplorable. There's no logic, and the character development is beyond laughable. An electrical engineer, who lives in NYC and graduated from NYU has "no experience with foreigners"!?! What? That's just one example of the banal descriptions that don't align in any reasonable way with the characters this author has tried to create.

Our male lead is supposed to be some kind of black ops arms dealer, and yet everything he says is so corny.

Just.... none of this is believable. It's incredibly trite and predictable. The writing is juvenile, clunky, redundant, and boring.

Save yourself the credit, there are thousands of better options.

How this was published is beyond me. I would love to have been a fly on the wall at the production meeting on recording the audiobook! I cannot believe professional adults read this book and thought it merited recording. Just, wow.

Great Storyline, should have been dual narration

What's the point in having two Narrators of they can't speak their own parts? why would the Male voice pretend to be the female voice when she's already a character in the book? its awkward ! with that said, I loved the story and can't wait to listen to the second book.
