Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author Chantal Fernando returns with a brand new series about a brigade of lawyers who, despite being bad boys at heart, always end up just on the right side of the law.

Katerina Dawson knows exactly what she wants from life. And as the new associate at the top law firm in the city, she's ready to live out her dreams of becoming a criminal lawyer. But going on coffee runs and babysitting kids during the day was definitely not what she had in mind. She knows that anyone else would kill to be in her shoes, but she has to draw the line somewhere. That's easier said than done, though, when Kat has to confront her handsome boss....

Tristan Channing and Jaxon Bentley run a successful law firm together and the two partners couldn't be busier right now. When Jaxon suddenly takes a leave of absence, Tristan begrudgingly assumes responsibility of the new associate, the hot new associate, who has curves for days. Needing to keep his distance from her, Tristan sends Kat on needless errands and has her doing work even an intern wouldn't touch, like picking up his kids. But his plan backfires when he sees his children grow attached to Kat and sees her getting comfortable in his home.

It triggers something deep within him, and it feels right to have her there. Will Tristan be able to keep his work and personal lives separate, or will he find that his heart holds the final verdict?

What?

That was a short story not a book! It’s like the author ran out of words. One minute the story is moving along and the next is an epilogue. Wow! I didn’t notice it was a 2 hr book!! What a waste of time!!

Enjoyable book!

Very well written short listen. I usually prefer longer books but was pleasantly surprised by this shorter one. It didn't feel rushed or unrealistic like a lot of shorter books. And I adored all of the characters!

Very short story with very little plot

This story introduces characters for a new series but they only appear- not much of a sense of them. This plot centers around a young lawyer who is newly hired by one partner but becomes involved with another partner, who is also a widower with 2 kids. There is a family secret revealed and slow motion in the relationship. Narration is by female Lucky Summer giving a pretty flat female POV. The epilogue is the guy’s POV and it is not very exciting. Only worth listening if you have the escape package.

Ending weak

The book was good until the end. Then three years were compressed into an epilogue. It was as if the writer got tired and wanted the who!e thing over with.

Too short

The story had a lot of potential but it was too short and there was no time to develop the characters and plot properly. The narrator was good but at times it feels like she forgot to switch voices.

Confused?

This started as a really good storyline. However when the final results came it just jumped to 3 years later. There could of been more of story to go with it. Kinda bummed it ended so abruptly.

Okay

A short, fast paced story. It felt a little rushed. But overall, it was entertaining.

Short and sweet

I was hesitant about it because of all the reviews saying it was short. Then I realized it was a 2 hour book . HELLO of course it’s a short story. I enjoyed it.
