Publisher's summary

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Vi Keeland comes a sexy new stand-alone novel.

The first time I met Chase Parker, I didn't exactly make a good impression. I was hiding in the bathroom hallway of a restaurant, leaving a message for my best friend to save me from my awful date. He overheard and told me I was a bitch, then proceeded to offer me some dating advice. So I told him to mind his own damn business and went back to my miserable date.

I couldn't help but sneak hidden glances at the condescending jerk on the other side of the room. Of course, he caught me on more than one occasion, and winked. When the gorgeous stranger and his equally hot date suddenly appeared at our table, I thought he was going to rat me out. But instead, he pretended we knew each other and joined us—telling elaborate, embarrassing stories about our fake childhood. My date suddenly went from boring to bizarrely exciting.

When it was over and we parted ways, I thought about him more than I would ever admit, even though I knew I'd never see him again. I mean, what were the chances I'd run into him again in a city with eight million people? Then again, what were the chances that a month later he'd wind up being my new sexy boss?

I CANT EVEN FINISH THIS

Try as I might, I can't finish this book. I'm about 2-3 hours from the end and I just don't care to put any more effort in. Normally I've enjoyed Maxine Mitchell's narration, but her over dramatized hesitations/pauses are literally grating on my nerves. Overall the story has potential, there are funny moments and some moments that tug on your heart strings, but it didnt reel me in at all. If you're desperate to waste a credit, this one will suffice, otherwise, I've definitely heard/read better.

Written for a 12 yo Cinderella stricken girl

ridiculous storyline. A hot guy with a perfect 10 (HOT body AND smart AND a business owner AND witty AND AND AND...) is all hot and bothered with the heroine literally by the second chance meeting they have. He wants a committed relationship shortly after they meet although apparently he is in HOT demands and is willing to wait for her to say yes. The majority of the story is him chasing her and the heroine secretly dying to hook up with him but holding back. Also the sappy settings where the hero just showed up made him seem like a stalker and again childish as he always showed up exactly when she was approached by a man. This is a story written for a 12 year old Cinderella stricken girl and not one who lives in reality. Still 4 hours to go and can not finish it. Don't waste your credit.

I know I am in the minority here!

Any additional comments?

I have no idea how this book has received such good reviews!!!
I could not connect with Chase and Reese!
The heroine is an average girl, who has had her issues dating men in the past. She was exceptionally annoying and most of her issues were blown out of proportion and quite unrealistic. The story has dual POV, but Reese takes the biggest chunk of it and female narrator was horrible! Most of the time sounds like she is crying ... very annoying!!!!
Too soon the office romance cliche started and with that burden came along one of the worst trope in romance history : the heroine being SECOND BEST to some ethereal dead wife / fiancée / girlfriend ... From this turning point there was no hope for a feel-good romance to blossom !! So we are stuck with a guy still hung up on his ex and a girl recovering from past tumultuous relationships.

Tall, Dark and Handsome

Bossman really surprised me. I saw the cover and read the blurb and was not anticipating how meaty this story really is!

There is the hilarity that Vi Keeland is known for but also a seriously sweet romance between two people who have been traumatized by very unfortunate circumstances.

Hot and steamy is an understatement between this pair and I couldn't get enough of their banter and their "pretend history".

I feel like Maxine Mitchell doesn't even need any more accolades because she must have heard them all by now. She is a seasoned pro that brings any story to life and I know that no matter the content, Maxine will make it a good listen. There are cameos from Joe Arden but not a whole lot. Joe for me is the same as Maxine. Solid performance every time.

EVERY MENTAL SCENE I HAD WAS JUST SO DELICIOUS

Reese first met the charismatic, gorgeous, arrogant, sexy and oh so funny Chase whilst taking a quick break from her date from Hell - Chase first insulted her and then proceeded to gate crash her date... bringing along with him his own voluptuous date - and some tall stories, wicked humor and a sense of wellbeing. But the evening was over too soon and Reese reluctantly had to say goodbye to a stranger who, for one glorious evening, mesmerized her, entertained her and left her wishing for more. Even though Reese couldn't forget about her very pleasant evening with the mystery man she reluctantly had to admit that sadly she'd never see him again and so it just wasn't meant to be.... but Destiny wasn't quite finished with Reese and Chase's story yet.

And so, Reese ended up working at Chase's Company where he's CEO and this starts off a push/pull working relationship where Chase wanted much more from Reese than just her Marketing skills. But Reese had done the whole inter-office romance thing before and it had backfired on her big time so, despite their obvious attraction and combustible chemistry, she didn't want to take the risk. And Reese started off well with such strong convictions and rules - however Chase's panty melting dirty talk, handsome face, fit body and his well meant but continual sneaky, sly and devious manoeuvres finally wore her down. But Chase had a heartbreaking tragedy in his past and an old acquaintance delivered some shocking, unbelievable and devastating news.... news that completely decimate their new and hard won relationship.

What an entertaining, funny, sweet, sexy and romantic dual POV listen this was and the banter between Reese and Chase was witty, hot and very nicely done. It was obvious that something was going to mess up their relationship... but the heartbreaking twist, fallout and sad consequences really hits hard. I've listened to so many of Vi Keeland books now and every time I think WOW this is the best one ever... and then she writes another book that has me repeating myself all over again with WOW this is the best one ever... and I hope she'll continue to blow me away with her talent.

Worth a credit? YES - VK is an auto buy for me - because every single time you're guaranteed (IMO) a great listen that you simply won't want to stop. In this book she has created wonderful flawed characters, delivered a captivating storyline that's got humor, heart, heat and sex - and, just as you think everything is safe,... bang - it all falls apart. Chase has to be one of my all time favorite Hero's of hers and was so well described I could imagine him as a living breathing force of nature tempting, seducing and teasing compliance out of strong willed Reese... and she never stood a chance. Some great narration coupled with a delicious cover topped it all off nicely.

CHASE AND REESE....WOW WHAT A STORY!!!!

Would you consider the audio edition of Bossman to be better than the print version?

Always is....This was very well narrated!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Bossman?

When she says she quits...and its ON!

What does Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I thought they were great!! Both..really good job!!!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, and I did!

Any additional comments?

This was almost perfect..I am still giving it 5 stars, but really 4.75 because it ended super abruptly....we needed like 1 more sentence....it was weird...

Reese needs a new job, and has been applying all over....she goes on a date that is not going well and meets HIM....Chase...Mr Bossman...of course he is super gorgeous and they are drawn to each other....Well fate is a cray thing and she keeps running into him..and ends up working for his company like a month later....The have a whirlwind romance...but both these people have damaged pasts...and Mr Chase runs hot/cold...Reese doesn't give up though...and they get their beautiful HEA!!

I swear romance books are ruining me for all other men....because these kinda guys do not really exist...LOL

GREAT LISTEN....FLOVED IT!!!!!! :) :) :)

a bore, really

the narration was slow and draggy, too old to narrate this type of book. The book constantly tried to develop a story line. Weak, very weak....no erotica to speak of, book was a bait and switch.

A bad Narrator can totally ruin a book and she did

Maxine Mitchell has very few good points about her narration. Not many, but a few.
Her narration did ruin this book. As I started listening to the beginning, I cringed as she has so many high intensity whistling S's in each of her words. It's ear piercing. It's like nails on a chalk board. The word Intensity took 5 seconds to complete. When she says Chase ask's for steps. I had to pull out my ear buds. Okay, you get the picture.
She also doesn't sound like a 20 something pretty girl.
Joe Arden was really good. He didn't have much narration in this book though. Too Bad.
This story was okay.
I did finish since the last half of the book was much better than the first.
Chase was a funny guy as he built up fabricated stories over and over to get rid of other guys flirting with his girl. He had a heartbreak of a love story years ago which he had trouble getting over.
Reese was the perfect girl for him and got him to love again.
The back and forth and sneaking around was a good story.
I wish I enjoyed it more and could get more out of it. Those S's just got in the way too much.
I was able to finish the book, but it wasn't easy. I am picky about good narrators and this one was hard to listen to for over 9 hours.
