Publisher's Summary

A fate worse than death...
Bastien Cabarro survived the brutal slaughter of his entire family only to have his wife pin their murders on him. Made Ravin by The League, he is now a target for their assassins-in-training to hunt and kill. The average life expectancy for such beings is six weeks. But defying the odds is what this Gyron Force officer does best, and Bastien won't rest until he lays his betrayers in their graves.
Ten years later he has one chance to balance the scales of justice, provided he relies on his former wingman - the very sister of the woman who testified against him.
Major Ember Wyldestarrin joined the outlaw Tavali the day Kirovar fell into the hands of a tyrant, and she and her sister-team were left on an outpost to die under the barrage of enemy fire. The last thing she wants is to be involved in politics again. But the one thing she wants more than anything is revenge on the tyrant who murdered her parents and forced her and her sisters into exile. Carrying a secret she knows Bastien will annihilate her over, she must find some way to trust her former wingman before he catches on and kills her. Even so, treachery doesn't come easily to a woman who took a loyalty oath to protect her home world and comrades-in-arms, especially when Bastien is much more to her than just a former wingman.
Yet as she tries to do right for her family, she learns that Bastien doesn't just hold the key to the fate of Kirovar; he is vital to The Sentella-League war and to The Tavali. If she doesn't ensure he survives this mission, three nations fall, and time for all of them is quickly running out.

I WASTED MY CREDIT ON THIS??? 😥😥

I don't give bad reviews lightly, especially when it pertains to one of my favorite authors. The story has to very bad, I hated it or I was disappointed, and I was very disappointed in Born of Vengeance. I've been a faithful follower of SK for years! I love both her Dark Hunter's, and League series! Her stories are among the few I could actually go back and listen too again, and again. She truly is in a class all her own. Sherilyn has a knack for writing PNR that have the RIGHT mix of action, humor and romance. Her stories usually have a slightly darker tone with characters who've had a hard life or difficult pasts, and she creates some amazing dialogue that is witty, sarcastic, and funny, it changes the whole tone of the story, but honestly how many times can you recycle a plot, and just change the POV. The last few books in the League series really feels like repeats, especially this one.

I don't like being harsh, but I've been holding my credit, waiting for this story to be released, bought it first thing this morning, and started it immediately. It started off good, but then H/h separate, and stay apart a good portion of the story. Not to mention the numerous scenes we've already heard from other POV's. Surprisingly, there was some new content but not enough for the plot to feel fresh or interesting. I wished she just write the stories where it progressed the entire series forward, and not give us another POV.

I'm disappointed and frustrated, and the only reason I won't be requesting my credit back is the narration. Fred did an amazing job with the narration! I loved how he delivered all the sarcastic, funny dialogue. He was at least the silver lining in the newest League audio.

I love SK writing enough I will check out future stories by her, especially the upcoming DH book, but will definitly be more cautions, and selective with the audios I buy.

Rant Over! 😤

back into the league universe!

once again, a great story. 4 months wait on pretty order was definitely worth it.

filled in more spaces and back story while seeming to bring in new ground.

the bonus story at the end, also great. Wish there were more mini releases in between the books.
