Publisher's summary

As the daughter of Hollywood's sweetheart, Leah Veronica can't even buy a coffee without finding her face on a magazine stand, so it's no wonder she's launching her first fashion line in secret. With it debuting at New York Fashion Week in just under a month, extra time in the spotlight is the last thing she needs.

As the son of the best quarterback the league has ever seen, filling legendary shoes as the LA Vipers' quarterback was inevitable for Corey Jackson. So was meeting Leah Veronica - the first girl to hand him his ass without putting a hair out of place. Getting the sexy, prickly blonde into his bed becomes his number-one goal. But getting the handsome, overconfident footballer the hell away from her becomes Leah's - at least until she realizes the best way to do that is to give him what he wants.

When secrets are exposed and hearts are shattered, they have to figure out if they've been blindsided by love or reality and if it's worth running the extra yard to win the game they never meant to play.

Contains mature themes.

This book seemed to never end.

It is the typical boy wants girl, girl wants boy. Girl thinks boy lied to her and they break up and then third party gets involved to save the day. Big disappointment. narration is good though.

Couldn’t finish

The author tries to build angst and demonstrate attraction, but it came across as possessive and creepy. I couldn’t listen to another 6 or 7 hours of it! 🥴

Nope

I cannot get those hours back. The dialogue, the plot, the voices it was just so ridiculous. Calling women bitch, the secret that was a tragedy was so stupid I couldn’t believe that was the premise of the story. It felt like they didn’t even do any research for this book.

Not buying it

While I enjoyed this book, and I wouldn't dissuade someone from reading it, I felt Cory was a bit of an arrogant jerk. The emphasis was definitely on his alpha versus showing more of his softer side. I struggled the most with the secret Leah V clothing line though. Her name is Leah Veronica....which would make it quite obvious whose clothing line it was, making her devastation a bit much for me.

horrible female needs to get on some meds

bipolar (not a medical diagnosis) woman so wishy-washy and so back and forth with her thoughts/actions that she frustrated me to no end. I'm very surprised that I even finished the book. The ending didn't even reveal any redeeming qualities.

A little too stalkerish

I get where the author was going, but I it falls short in my opinion. Lead character is more than cocky in the beginning but brash & narcissistic.

Performance was lacking too. Could not listen through.

Really good read for me except for...

I really enjoyed the story until the last 8 minutes of Audible Chapter 29, then enjoyed the rest of the novel. The reason I am picking on the last 8 minutes is that it was a constant rehash of the same angsty thing. The only other part of the story that bothered me was that not one friend questioned the reason one of the main characters was so upset with the other... they just decided to bash.

What did I like?
1. Great character development
2. Friends were a true part of the story and not just taking up space.
3. The story had a nice flow
4. I felt drawn to the characters and cared about the outcome!

I am looking forward to listening to the next book in the series.

Frustrating

Leah is so irritating. She blames Corey for everything when she is closed off and extremely mixed up. I could not root for her at all.

Don’t be blindsided by Ms Leah V

This story had a lot of promise, but it was just really difficult to sympathize with the female lead. She comes across as too mean, whiny and self-centered. So much so that I really didn’t want her to get the guy in the end!
