Publisher's summary

When the widowed owner of the wine bar Vineyard decides she wants to take some time off and travel abroad, she leaves her business in the very capable hands of the two women she trusts most: her daughter Piper and Vineyard's general manager, Lindsay.

For Lindsay Kent, Vineyard is her dream job. She's thrilled when her boss leaves her in charge (well, half charge) and tells her to feel free to make changes. Lindsay has tons of ideas that she's been dying to put into action, and this is her big chance to increase the success of the business and prove she's more than ready to run things solo. But getting the boss's daughter on board is harder than expected. The uptight and annoyingly attractive Piper is blocking her every move.

For Piper Bradshaw, Vineyard is not her job. She already has one. She's VP at a large tech company, and she's damn good at it. Who cares if people say she's a workaholic and an icy bitch? She didn't get to the top by being prone to whims and experiments. She's not happy when her mother suddenly decides to gallivant all over the country and furious that the family business has been left in the hands of the happy-go-lucky, born-a-generation-too-late hippie who manages it. Good thing Lindsay can't make any changes unless they both agree, because Piper doesn't intend to.

Lindsay and Piper are like night and day. Working together won't be easy, but not falling in love might prove the hardest job of all.

Good Audiobook from Georgia Beers

someone left a review that said this audiobook reminded them of another Georgia Beers book titled "a little bit of spice," so I immediately purchased "Blended." a little bit of spice is my favorite Georgia beers book and Abby craden narrated that book, so... that almost set this book, Blended, up for failure, in comparison. I liked Blended. it was a good story, and I enjoyed listening to the book but as I listened I kept wondering if I would have loved the book If Abby Craydon had narrated it instead. okay I'm going on too much about the narration but I just wasn't loving the two main characters voices and I think that took a little away from the whole experience of the audiobook. still it's another solid Georgia beers book. her books are well-written with a little bit of humor which always makes a good read.

NOW... the narrator! Paige McKinney is incredible, every single lesfic book she narrates I have to have it because she brings color to the story. I adore her!

Yikes

What disappointed you about Blend?

The narration was horrific. She made Piper sound like a comatose Neanderthal.
The story was very predictable. The break up fight between the 2 primary characters didn’t make sense. Don’t waste your time with this book.

What was most disappointing about Georgia Beers’s story?

The story lacked depth and any feeling of authenticity.

Would you be willing to try another one of Paige McKinney’s performances?

Heck No. if I see her name while browsing I’m not bothering to listen.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment

Any additional comments?

Do better and try not to sound like a broken record.

Enjoyed the story, narration not so much

Great story that I’m sure I would have enjoyed reading more than listening to. One character’s voice is annoyingly falsetto and almost sing songy, which caused me to nearly give up listening. I followed the advice of other reviews and speed the reading up. Made it through the rest of the book this way. I recommend reading this book, unless you happen to enjoy this narrator.

Here for the story, not the narrator

I love Georgia Beers books. I’ve read/listened to nearly all of them and no matter how predictable they are, I still love them. All love stories follow the same formula so it’s not like any kind of plot twists would lead to a different ending. I love enemies to lovers stories and this one was cute and enjoyable. What I did not love is the narrator. Holy. Crap. I will never listen to another book narrated by this woman. Most voices were fine (at best) but one of the main characters had a high pitched, singsongy child voice which grated my nerves and nearly made me quite listening only a few hours in. The intonations and inflections for nearly every character is awkward and often completely completely wrong. I’m a stickler for quality narration and this just is not quality. Read, don’t listen.

story predictable narration stiff/unnatural

Just like the title says... characters and storyline we're both predictable and some of the characters were weirdly over-dramatic and didn't feel like real people so it was hard to get into one of the main characters (Piper).

A good read as usual

I have read most of Georgia Beers' novels. They are always well written and good reads and this one is no exception. The narrator is very slow which is a bit annoying but I put the speed to 1.25x and that made my experience a lot better!
