Publisher's summary

Anson is a fierce Dragon King, a dragon shapeshifter born and bred to protect his own. But when a rogue tech company hacks into their world, he must join forces with the unlikeliest of allies: a human female. Her name is Devon Abrams. A rising star at the firm, she has no idea that her boss is in league with the sinister Fae and their secret war against humanity. If Anson gains her trust, he can defeat the enemy from within. But first he must fight his own attraction to this exquisitely beautiful mortal....

Devon loves her job at the firm. But sometimes she wishes she could find a man - a real man - who isn't threatened by her success. When she first meets Anson, she's overwhelmed by his powerful masculine presence and disarmingly gorgeous smile. But when he reveals his true mission - and his ability to transform into a dragon - she's irresistibly drawn into an epic battle between humans and immortals, magic and technology, danger and desire. Anson vows to protect her from the Fae. But can he control the flames of passion that blaze within his heart? Contains mature themes.

Another great Dragon King book.

Let me start by saying I love Donna Grant’s Dragon Kings, as you can tell by this being the 11th one I’ve read.

I really like Anson and Devon’s story. And when they were taken prisoner how he told her his story when she was trying so hard not to be terrified of him after seeing him turn into a dragon. Once she started believing in the unbelievable she started to quietly cheer him on as he killed the Dark Fae who were attacking him. Between his story and the Dark attacking it didn’t take Devon long to stop being afraid and come around to the side of the Dragon Kings.

And, wow, when Anson was teleported to the Dark Fae castle it was scary to think about Anson being tortured before someone would rescue him. Plus he was worried because he thought the Dark had captured Devon too. It was all very exciting once Rhi, Con and Devon entered the castle to rescue Anson, and they had to take on about 40 or 50 Dark.

But, really, no one I really wanted to die did, with the exception of the insane scientist. And what Mikkel did to Muriel was really uncalled for. Jeez!

The bad guys: Ulrik, Mikkel, Upton, Harriet and Taraeth (and maybe Balladyn,) are really bad. People you love to hate. And now there’s a new one named Eilish, a powerful Druid.

*Sigh,* and the 5 new ceremonies that were performed in this book. Five Dragon Kings and their five human women.

There was explicit sex in this book and the F-bomb was used 12 times.

As to the narration: My feelings are still the same for Antony Ferguson. I know a LOT of you think he’s wonderful but his women sound just horrible. Plus, when he’s trying to do a woman’s voice he has absolutely no emotions whatsoever. His men's voices are good, which you would expect.

Amazing book as always ❤ 👌 👏. I love it 😀 😍!

This book was amazing. Anson is just hot 🔥 😍. I love him. I also like Devon she special. It takes her time to accept what is going on into her world, but she accept it. They are perfect for each other. I like their relationship. I think it is time for Michael to die. He had done way too much horror. I can't believe he killed Mirrial 😢. I actually like her. I hope Ulrik will bring her back 🙏. I also like Rhi and Balladine relationship. This book was amazing 👏 ❤. I really enjoyed listening to it 😊.

Loved this complex story

The saga is getting more and more intense, even a little too complicated for me at times, I’m ready for something big to change. I loved Devon & Anson’s story, intrigued by her background that was uncovered. Great narration by Antony Ferguson.

Omg

I always find it so hard to review the books from Donna Grant's Dark Kings series because they are always so chock full of little details that are building slowly on to one another. Anson's and Devon's story is no different although I will say that it feels like in this story we are getting past the little blocks and into the bigger details. Those moments we have all been waiting for are finally starting to reveal themselves. Now don't get to excited, this is Donna Grant we are talking about, haha. There isn't some big huge HOLY MOTHER OF DRAGONS moment. No, you don't find out what the weapon is, no we don't find out who Rhi's Dragon is, no, we don't get an answer to what's happening between Rhi and the Reapers, and no, we don't find put why Con has been a total ass for oh....9 books now. But, there are some pretty interesting moments. Some memories are brought to the surface that give some good insight. If you are a reader who has been meticulously been keeping notes for this series (Man, I wish I was you right now) you will have plenty of things to put into your notebook and plenty of things that will have your detective mind spinning.

This is a hard thing for me to say but I have been dragging with this series. I was starting to wonder why I kept putting myself through the torture, knowing that we weren't going to get answers. It is difficult as a reader to continue reading through a series this long when you don't feel like you are getting anywhere. We have been waiting to answers to several questions since book 1 and now we are on 11, that begins to really drag a reader down. Thankfully though in Anson's and Devon's story not only do we get the romances that we have come to expect from Ms. Grant but we also get moments of hope that answers are coming. We get the boost we need to continue on down this path, knowing that there are several more books still to read.

I really enjoyed the relationship between Anson and Devon. There is something truly pure about it that has felt like it's been missing for a few books now. While I have loved the other books romances, there was a stale feeling that I don't get with Blaze. I almost feel like Donna has been down in the mire as much as we have these last several books and the story between Anson and Devon pulled her up as well. There is a renewed energy to this book and that makes me ecstatic because I love these stories. I love Donna's 'world' building, I love when you can feel the passion she has for these characters come through. I think this book more than any other has given me the hint that it's all actually (not too soon, but in the 'near' future) coming to an end and I am both thrilled and saddened by that. I am excited to have been a part of the Dragon King's journey from the beginning and I am anxious for more.

Paranormal Romance and Shifter fans this is a great series. Yep, not gonna lie...it's a long one (book 11 now) and there are times when you start to drown in all of it, but it's so worth it. If you haven't read this series, I highly suggest it, but you MUST start from the beginning. In fact if you haven't read Donna Grant before I would suggest going all the way back to the beginning of Donna's Dark world and read Dangerous Highlander. It isn't a must do, you will be absolutely fine starting at Darkest Flame, book 1 in the Dark Kings series, but if you love PNR like I do and you have the time to invest you will not be disappointed.

love it!!! but...

I absolutely love this serie and I love the storyline. but one thing that take away a star, is details being non correct. when Con ,the queen of light and felan( don't know how to write his name, sorry) went to save Rye (sometimes rie) , the queen said to Felan: you are a prince, but you can't talk like that!! but in this book, she doesn't know anything about him??? thats a bit disappointing. but other than that + the different way he says their names, I love this serie ♡
