Beyond Limits

I love this series and cannot get enough of it! Elizabeth LeBlanc is back to work after her last assignment left her injured and she has been called in to a threat in Texas. Surprise, Derek Vaughn, a Navy SEAL she has been intrigued with, is there after a mission where the team brought back intel of an imminent attack on US soil. Together they work to find out who, what, where and all the twists and turns bring them closer even as the dangers escalate. Heart pounding and thrilling for sure and these two have something special. Definitely a keeper!

Good story line ...a little slow moving

The story drags on a bit. The fake Texas accents are not. close to authentic. The narrators voice is nice but when reading as the narrator and not a character, the enunciation is oddly broken and it is distracting.

Story is good. Narration is annoying.

The story line here is good. A nice Whodunit mixed with the romance. But the narrator is so focused on pronouncing every letter of every word, that she actually seems to add syllables to words when she tries to put the hard "D" or "T" sound on some words. It's hard to explain, but it's annoying. It almost sounds like she's adding an "a" sound to some words. "She told-a him that ... " And when she does it, there's a small pause after that word. Her narration just doesn't flow naturally. It's almost as if she's working hard at covering an accent of some kind. It's bad enough that I won't finish listening to the book.

Terrible narration

Holy moly. Who ever this reader is has the worst voice, possibly that I’ve ever heard. It takes away from the book. Read this , don’t listen.

The story itself is good

I hope our real FBI is smarter than they are portrayed. Narrator really obey enunciates at the beginning, she lessens toward the middle. It was close to being really good

Horrible, really bad, narration!!! Argh!

I'm 1/2 way thru what is a great storyline...but I honestly don't know if I can finish it because the narration is so bad! Who really talks like that - she chews the words! For a lack of a better description. It is extremely distracting - it constantly pulls me out of the story. Before you buy this book - be sure to listen to the sample listen.

Thrilling!

In book 8 we have an FBI agent Elizabeth LeBlanc and navy seal Derek Vaughn working together to figure out the next terrorist plot against US soil.

Beyond Limits is jammed packed with fast action as these two search out leads to not only find out who are the players behind a suspected threat, but what that actual threat is.

I'm finding this series to be a good thrill read. It is heavier on the suspense than the romance and I usually prefer more romance. That speaks to how good the suspense has been in this series.

This series have some recurring side characters and some of them become main characters. Despite that, I believe you can read each book as a standalone if you aren't interested in reading in order.

Audiobook borrowed on the Audible Romance Package. The narrator is very good. I don't particularly like her male voice but that's a personal preference and I got used to it very quickly.

Mixed reaction

The story of hunting the terrorists was exciting and well done. The h's angst over the relationship with the H was over done. It was understandable and realistic but it stalled the story to have it hashed over so much. The narration was very inconsistent. Her voice for Derek was terrific but the general narration was very strained, over enunciated and she tripped over words.
I have read or listened to every book by Laura Griffin and she will continue to be an automatic buy despite the hiccups in this book.

Read, don't listen!!!

I am a big fan of this series and have read the first 7 books. Since I enjoy the series so much, I thought it would be great to listen to the next in the series while at the gym. I tolerated for 6 chapter and then finally couldn't take it anymore! The narrator/performer was horrible!!! It almost sounds like a robot is telling the story. Not a lot of emotion portrayed and words pronounced wrong leaving me guessing what exactly was happening. At one point I was questioning if the narrator's first language was even English because it was so lousy. Anyway, I deleted the audible version and went back to my trusty Kindle to finish the story. I will not be listening to anymore books narrated by this person.
