Publisher's summary

Ashley James was through with men. But, she was also a professional. How she ended up working for the first man to break her heart while in the middle of a nasty breakup with the current man who'd broken her heart, she didn't know. One of life's cruel jokes, she guessed. Well, the joke was on life. Her job was the one thing that made sense in her life. And, she wasn't going to let stupid men take that from her. If her ex, Nick Connor, was her client, so be it. She would do this job just as competently as she always did...as soon as she mustered the courage to get out of her car and go into Nick's office.

Nick Connor thought he'd never see Ashley James again. She'd disappeared without a trace after he'd messed up and hurt her all those years ago. He thought he'd lost the only woman he'd ever loved. Now fate had brought them back together. Only, she's ending a long-term relationship and men aren't exactly on her list of favorite people. And he is definitely at the top of her "people she hates" list. He may not know what to do, but there's no way he'll let her get away from him a second time.

Betrayed....

Where does Betrayed rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Most definitely will be listening to this again, so it ranks quite high.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The book was so beautifully written and D.C Coles narrating took you along on the journey and made you like them all, so I can't pick just one. 😀

Have you listened to any of D. C. Cole’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've had the pleasure to listen to all of D.C Coles released work, and his performance is always powerful and consistent and this ranks side by side with them all.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Giving love a second chance

Any additional comments?

So happy that I discovered another talented author, and the bonus is she had D.C Cole narrate her book. I'm winning in all round.. 😜

2nd Chance Romance.

I enjoyed this book from start to finish. The characters were well developed and the female character, Ashley, was a strong independent woman. I was easily drawn in to their history and felt both of them had heartbreaks interfering in their lives. The story moved along at a good pace and kept me interested. The narration was well done by D. C. Cole and really embodied Nick especially. I am going to seek out and listen to more work by both author and voice actor.

Loved this book

Captivating story and charming lead character Nick. I found myself rooting for him to win Ashley's heart again. Talk about major chemistry. And the narrators voice. Very sexy.
I've got to give the author major kudos for creating this great book. It's hard to say, but I think it's got to be my favorite of Marla Josephs books. I really enjoy all her books and always recommend them to all my reader friends but Betrayed captivated me. I highly recommend it.

Loved it!

Nick had broke Ashley’s heart eight years ago while they were still in high school. She was trying to get up the courage to go into the building, because her boss had sent her there to work for Nick. He had ripped her heart out by being unfaithful and she hadn’t seen him since. To make matters worse, her live in boyfriend Zack, had cheated on her and they still had a month left on their lease. He had moved into the guest room while she stayed in her bedroom when he was home. She decided she would swear off of men. Exciting story and D. C. Cole was an excellent narrator!

Can you forgive a betrayal?

Nick comes face to face with his hs girlfriend after almost a decade...and she will be working for him...albeit temporarily. Will she be able to forgive him cheating on her? Especially since she’s trying to get out of a ling term relationship with a cheating ex. Nick has his work cut out for him...is he up for the challenge? Was so excited to read Nick’s story! It was everything that I expected...lil drama, smexy times, funny times and eventually an HEA. Also cameos of the folks from the earlier books. Now I need Alexa’s story...hint hint to the author :)

second chance for HEA

A story of second chances, talk about being in the right place at the right time.
I bet it was quite a shock seeing each other after so many years apart. First loves are unforgettable and I am glad they got their 2nd chance to make things right. Sweet AND hot, Nick and Ashley's story is worth listening to especially with DC Cole as the voice telling it. His voice is one of my top five, with his signature sexy rasp, intense and passionate, I wish I can give more than 5 stars. Time well spent.

An Angry Ashley Will Tell You About Yourself!

This audiobook is everything that a lighthearted contemporary romance novel should be! Ashley James and Nick Connor were first friends and then high school lovers. Ready to head off to separate colleges Nick gets caught with his pants down, Literally! How thoughtful that someone captured the moment for all prosperity. When the picture is texted to Nick, this top jock is in the race of his life to get to Ashley before the infamous picture. Unfortunately, for probably the first time in Nick’s life he loses.

Years later it deja vu, all over again when Ashley’s live in boyfriend turns out to be a serial cheater and Ashley’s officially out for the count.

Of course, that’s when fate brings her first love back into her life. What I really like about this story is that Ashley is wounded and she makes no bones about the fact that she’s angry with both men and she’s not going to just get over the betrayal, but she’s intelligent enough to discern the moral differences between the two men.

This audiobook is narrated by D. C. Cole, he has a gruff voice but his range of conveying emotion for both male and female characters was awesome and I actually found his reading to be soothing! The production quality is clear throughout this audiobook.

Reluctant romance

Would you listen to Betrayed again? Why?

Yes. It was a quick and sweet second chance romance

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the fact that the main character Ashley didn't just jump from one thing to another. She allowed things to rekindle and play out and it felt natural.

Which character – as performed by D. C. Cole – was your favorite?

Nick, because DC Cole's voice just fit his character well. But he performed all parts wonderfully.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The second time around.

Any additional comments?

This was a sweet story, the characters were realistic and likable. I enjoyed the slow and steady blooming of a rekindled relationship and the fact that things flowed naturally between the characters and the story overall. The narration was well performed and it was a quick listen. I received this audiobook for free from audiobook boom for my unbiased review.
