Publisher's summary

The most valuable lesson Emerson Moore ever learned was from her parents: Never get too attached to someone else. That's why this hard-partying college student plays by her own code of bedroom conduct, refusing to stay with the same guy for too long. She gets all the pleasure of having a good time without the messiness of a relationship. So what if frat-house hopping has earned her a certain reputation around campus? At least no one gets hurt this way - especially her.

When ridiculously gorgeous Jaxon Riley moves in next door, Emerson's not sure how long her vow against emotional intimacy can last. Jaxon's tattoo, muscles, and sexy voice make him tempting, but he also seems to really understand her...until his jealous ex-girlfriend and Emerson's life-changing discovery about her parents get thrown into the mix. After everything she's been through, can Emerson handle a real relationship? Or will breaking her rules just lead to a broken heart?

Book needs a better narrator.

The narrator should never do boys voices. Her rendition of a male character ruins the book. I would rather she just stick to her normal voice for the whole book instead.

Good but...

I liked it but I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the book. The different voices the narrator used for each character (especially the men) were rather annoying. It definitely took away from the story.

Warning. Narrator ruins this book

I finally got through this after several false starts because the narrator made me want to go strangle beanie babies!! Her male voices and even the female different ones was like scraping my fingernails down a chalk board. So you might ask— why put yourself through this?? Because of the positive book reviews and a high steamy rating. All I can say is I have no idea what book they were rating but surely not this one. The story was ok but make no mistake , this is a YA book and the steamy factor was just above sweet. Unless maybe you are 16 and then I could maybe see it. Don’t waste your time or credit

Not my favorite

I love to read, but with long work days and commutes I've come to enjoy audibles to get me through my long drives to and from work. The storyline is ok. I have to admit, I may have appreciated it more if I was in my 20's, but being in my mid-30's, I couldn't relate. I've listened to a few other books that were based on a younger generation and I did enjoy them though. That was the reason for listening to this book. I can't say it any other way, so I'm just going to be honest. I couldn't/can't stand the narrator's voice. It's so annoying and the way she changes it for the different characters, made me cringe. I really wanted to stop listening to this book, but I'm one of those if I start something I want to see it through. The worst part is it's a series and knowing how I am, I will probably listen to the other two.

Great !!!

Let me just say I love love love how the narrator does jacksons voice !!!
Aaahhhh this story was jus amazing to go trough the emotions with Emerson and see through her eyes.
I cannot wait to read about jace although I'm a little skeptical because Audrey didn't make the best impression in this book. Yuckkkkk
Worth the listen !!!!

I couldn't stand the "Texan" accent

The way she did the Texan accent was so bad I couldn't continue listening. I didn't hate the story but it was really distracting and I DNF'd the book.

Great Story

This love story was so emotional, just like real life. The narrator really made each character seem real so much that you could feel the emotions the writer intended for the character.

great read

This was a great book. various characters had conflicts vs 1 or 2 ppl, so it made the story more dynamic. The history with Em and her parents was sad, but the hurdles she had to overcome made the story better as well. Jack's role was interesting since he provided both support and motivation. I'd love to read more about the whole gang.

Grating voice

The story is great but the narrator is killing my ears. Grating voice and croaky faux Texan accent need so much work. Distracting
