Publisher's Summary

Stopping a tornado was the first of many strange events that seem to follow Weylyn from town to town, although he doesn't like to take credit. As amazing as these powers may appear, they tend to manifest themselves at inopportune times and places. From freak storms to trees that appear to grow over night, Weylyn's unique abilities are a curiosity at best and at worst, a danger to himself and the woman he loves. But Mary doesn't care. Since Weylyn saved her from an angry wolf on her 11th birthday, she's known that a relationship with him isn't without its risks, but as anyone who's met Weylyn will tell you, once he wanders into your life, you'll wish he'd never leave.
Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance tells the story of Weylyn Grey's life from the perspectives of the people who knew him, loved him, and even a few who thought he was just plain weird. Although he doesn't stay in any of their lives for long, he leaves each of them with a story to tell. Stories about a boy who lives with wolves, great storms that evaporate into thin air, fireflies that make phosphorescent honey, and a house filled with spider webs and the strange man who inhabits it.

Delightful Story of Tales for All Ages

Like many of the stories I pluck from Audible, this one was on a whim and I am pleased to add it on a long list of great books I have listened to via Audible. The various narrators performed well and their styles compliement one another's take on their characters and story. None of them stand out as amazing but the way the story is told really fits the overall vibe of the book. One of the parts I like the most about the story is the frank, unassuming manner it portrays each situation, memory and all of the feelings involved. Nothing is shaded to an extreme and yet that does not lessen the depth or importance of it. The story is delightful, bittersweet, full of whimsy, prankster curiosity and heart. I highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys an honest adventure.

An Accidental Wonder!

I was book shopping and and looking through books that were recommended to me. I accidentally bought this book instead of The Name of the Wind because I was in a hurry and not paying attention! I AM SO THANKFUL THAT THIS ACCIDENTAL WONDER WAS PURCHASED!

At first I wasn’t sure about the book but that was because it wasn’t what I was expecting to read. I don’t normally like audio books that have multiple POV changes because it so hard to keep up with the characters. But by the time Waylon had reconnected with Mary and had Merlin facing down a hurricane... I was totally smitten! This book is about living an unexpected life and learning that living in your own way is simply beautiful. The world is harsh and cruel and unkind but being true to yourself will always help you get through. By the time I ended this book, tears were streaming down my face and I am NOT an emotional person. As I sit here trying to tell you how great this book is the tears keep coming. Not because it was a sad ending but because the message was just so beautifully written and finally unfurls into the most beautiful Daffidil the world has ever seen!
