Publisher's summary

Private operative and former Navy SEAL Jack Brandt barely escaped a disastrous undercover assignment, thanks to the most intriguing woman he's ever met. When his enemies track him to her doorstep, he'll do anything to protect Morgan from the danger closing in on them both…

Since her husband's death, Morgan Rains has only been going through the motions. She didn't think anything could shock her-until she finds a gorgeous man stumbling naked and injured through the woods behind her house. He's mysterious, intimidating-and undeniably compelling.

Thrown together into a pressure cooker of danger and intrigue, Jack and Morgan are finding in each other a reason to live - if they can survive.

fast listen that will not disappoint

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

yes, as you will want to listen straight through. fast pace that kept you engaged

What other book might you compare Bad Nights to and why?

A good read that can lead to 2 other books/characters. Lots of potential from the author

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I am not sure if the author did the reading of this book. Good on female voice, but not on male voices...could not make our heros as sexy as they could have been.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES

Any additional comments?

I would buy more from this author, but would rather have Karen white as a reader, or a reader who can do sexy male voices and read at a fast pace.

Failed to bring the heat

Started out promising, as Morgan discovers a dark, damaged, naked former SEAL in her backyard. They are quickly on the run and thrown into the usual survivalist, on the run tropes. Which I’d have been totally down with if I felt the danger, action, or sexual chemistry. Instead the story was oddly tame, boring even. This was in large part due to the narrator, who was fine for Morgan’s female voice, but narrated all the men with the same, “average guy” tone. Plus, the slow pacing didn’t match the spy thriller/fugitive storyline. I listened at 1.5x by the end.

This book might have bumped up from “okay as a free listen” to sexy, good times with a male narrator like Shane East, Jacob Morgan, or Kafer. But aside from the narrator and the typical tropes, the final nail in the coffin for me was the lack of passion. There’s only two sex scenes, delivered rather quick and with stilted, awkward language. First one at Ch19, 5 hrs into this 9 hour book (Her: “it’s so good,”. Him: “yeah” 🙄). Second in the final minutes of the book. If you want me to buy the insta-love, you’re going to need to up the dialogue, action, nooky, or cheese. Sadly, I got no cheddar.
