He wanted a baby. I needed a man. Faith The first time I saw Jackson, I hated his guts. He was everything I could never have. Pure, panty-wetting manhood. And I was trapped in a loveless relationship with his worst enemy. I never would have dreamed he craved my womb so badly he was willing to do anything for it. Jackson My father's death taught me a lot of things. Most importantly, I needed a child. I had to have a son before my enemies caught up with me. So when Faith came begging for protection, I knew exactly what I wanted. I yearned for her body. Lust raged through me like a wildfire. I longed to make her pregnant with my child. I gave her an offer she couldn't refuse. A life for a life. My protection in exchange for everything she had to offer. I'd die for her, but she would give me a son. I took her womb. I never suspected she'd take my heart.

While looking for something new to listen too on Amazon, I came by Bad Boy Daddy by chance. The cover along with the 2,000+ reviews caught my eye, but what really intrigued me, was the male author's bold claim, "I'm a bad boy who writes about bad boys! I write them. You fall in love with them. It's as simple as that." With a challenging statement like that, I was compelled to give Chance Carter's writing a chance to see if he could measure up to some of my favorite female authors, and if he could truly deliver a steamy romance. Grudgingly, I have to admit he delivered a steamy, edgy romance with a heart-warming HEA. However, there were a few times I almost lost interest, but stuck it out, and by the end I was glad I took a chance on this story.
Some spoilers: Normally when I listen to a audiobook, I want hear and enjoy the story as the author envisioned and wrote it, and not necessary how I think the story should be told. With that being said, I liked the plot and characters; however, there were a few of things I felt could have taken this story's rating from three stars to five stars for the story rating portion.
First, it felt like I was listening to two different stories. The first half of the story was raw, crude, and all about saving Faith and taking everything she has to give, a life for a life. The second half of the story was about reconnecting and how much they loved each other. It was slightly jarring; however, there was a transition from one to the other so this is just a minor complaint.
Second, there were several really detailed steamy hot sex scenes that were well written but they were slightly on the cruder side (The spitting thing just didn't work for me.) However, I felt these characters really needed more chemistry, and drama built up between them to help the listener become invested in both the H/h. After knowing Faith for just a short time, Jackson decided he would protect Faith even if it meant he would die, and all he expected in return was for her to get pregnant so she could carry on his family line. They spend a few days together, have unprotected sex and then Jackson leaves to carry out his plan knowing he could possibly die and it was way too soon to even know Faith was pregnant. This is where I almost lost interest in the story, and where I felt the author could have built up the chemistry and drama to help ensure the listener was invested in the characters and their fate. In my opinion, it would have been more dramatic if the characters were able to have a few more sex scenes, learn more about each other by staying together two to three weeks, or just enough time to find out Faith is pregnant before Jackson leaves to carry out his plan to keep Faith and his unborn child safe. Don’t get me wrong, the plot and route the author used to carry out the events was good, I just didn't feel invested enough in knowing what would become of either of them. I had to force myself to stick to the story until the plot starting picking up again.
Lastly, I think a shorter timeline would have been better for reuniting with each other.
Michael Pauley's performance was good. I've listened to Michael narrate a variety of genres, and he always does a great job adapting to the various charters and plots. Also, the music intro at the beginning and ending of each chapter was a nice touch.
The final verdict, I was surprised by how much I liked the overall story and gave it an overall four star rating. I would definitely listen to another book by Chance Carter. His unique writing style was slightly crude, edgy and raw but he delivered on the steamier edgy sex scenes and tied it up nicely with a heart-warming HEA. This audio is good fit for those who love their stories raw, gritty and unapologetic. This was a great whispersync deals!

Would you try another book from Chance Carter and/or Michael Pauley?
This was my first audible book. I didn't like it at first. It was hard for me to get used to someone reading to me. Once I got past that and the weirdness of having a man narrate the female sex lines, it was good.
Did Michael Pauley do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
