Publisher's summary

New York Times bestselling author Melody Anne’s novel of dangerous secrets, dark pasts, and sizzling heat.

No one would guess that dedicated teacher Arden Forbes is a billionaire. His profession gives him a purpose that wealth alone can’t provide. He’s developing another passion, too, for Keera Thompson, the new principal. She’s beautiful, enigmatic, guarded, and - after a series of violent school break-ins - in need of protection. And Arden is eager to supply it. But what he wants most is to unearth the mysteries that surround her.

After a troubling past, Keera thought she’d be safe in this sleepy town and that she’d never be shaken again. Yet nothing has unsettled Keera more than her desire for Arden - honorable, gorgeous, and available when she craves him. But despite their explosive chemistry, when it comes to letting Arden in, Keera has her limits...and her secrets.

As the threats escalate, Keera fears that everything she’s been running from is closing in, and there’s only one man to trust. But will the truth drive Arden away...or will it bring the two closer than ever before?

didn't want the girl and guy to get Tierney

sometimes a couple seems all wrong for each other. the guy seemed awesome, but the girl will bring much drama. the reading was ok until the voices were attempted. if it wasn't for he said or the name of the characters I would have been lost. there were parts that seemed like good parts to story. some scenes seemed rushed.

Melody new or old?

I'm trying to recall if i have read anything from Melanie before? Such a great read or listen actually. this one is a bit more difficult at times to follow than when you listen (read) Kian ... for me at least ... all those similar names ... I got a bit confused. at times. well several actually. ( :

Good story line

This has a good story line. The narration is a little over dramatized for my taste. If Kristin could tone it down a little this could be a 5 * listen . I enjoy reading /listening to series about families especially brothers. So keep coming melody .... This is a great one.

Liked the story line

The stories of all the Forbes are interesting. I like the characters and the plots are decent. But I just could not finish this one. The narrator has a nice voice but inflection is off at various points in the narrative, it sounds like she is trying to seduce the microphone. I found myself listening & then realizing I just missed an entire chapter because her voice just drones on and on. I tried my best to finish it but nope, no can do.

I love Melody Anne and this is just another great series and book but I am not a fan of the person reading it. it's just a bit too much but the story more than makes up for it

Max is the star!

Arden Forbes is a man who follows his passion. For as long as he can remember, he's wanted to be a teacher. He and his family are beyond wealthy and have a love of caring for others and paying it forward with their wealth. He loves to teach history and to coach his students on the football team. He's also interested in Keera Thompson, the principal in Arden's school, and he's touched by her beauty and her kindness. There are rumors of drugs in the school and Arden's brother, FBI Agent Declan, assigns a police dog, Max, to accompany Arden to school to see what he can scent. Keera is hiding a huge secret from her past that could wipe away any hope that she might have for a memorable relationship with Arden. He's not going to give up trying to win her heart, especially since she's beginning to trust him so thoroughly. But her past is coming back to hurt her and she might have to divulge her ugly story in order to keep Arden safe. The tying up of Keera's family's loose ends was amazing, tough at times, but amazing. And the twisted surprise at the end was really well done! Kristin Watson Heintz is a magnificent narrator who is able to speak both gender voices equally well. She has a dynamic voice and uses just the right intonation and cadence to make the characters come to life.
