Publisher's summary

It starts with a stolen kiss under an English sky, and it ends with a walk down the aisle. It starts with the President sending his best friend to woo me on his behalf, and it ends with my heart split in two.

It starts with buried secrets and dangerous desires...and ends with the three of us bound together with a hateful love sharper than any barbed wire.

My name is Greer Galloway, and I serve at the pleasure of the President of the United States. This is the story of an American Queen.

Not for Me – Please Read Below

Sierra Simone really got my attention with her book; Priest. Since then (a couple of years perhaps) my listening/reading has moved in a different direction.

American Queen was way over the top in every aspect. The MOST wealthy people, the MOST powerful people, the MOST broken people, the MOST taboo, the MOST… I found it hard to relate to – even as an escape because it was MOST unbelievable...

Stephanie Rose is an above average voice performer. There is a bit of nasal in her voice, but that is what makes her distinct.

Worth a credit/$: I will not be adding any of the other American Queen series to my library, not even on sale. You will have to go with your gut on this one. If I had listened to it immediately after PRIEST I may have liked it. However, I didn't and I didn't.

Thanks for reading my review. Please market "helpful" if that applies, directly below this paragraph.

Not my thing

Ok first the good: Sierra Simone is a talented writer. Her creativity and originality are to be applauded. I'm not bored reading it. But...
Maybe I was spoiled by Priest. I went into this expecting angst and love and passion. Instead of that I get a woman who enjoys being degraded and hurt. I guess I didn't really understand this was going to be a story that involved being hit by belts and such. Furthermore, I think at heart this is a story of two male best friends deeply in love that have found a female plaything as an accessory. As much as I'm told about how they love her, their actions speak otherwise and I'm left feeling like I don't like any of them very much. There was no one I was rooting for, and I spent the majority of the time thinking, why don't any of them love the other enough to be fully committed or value themselves enough to demand commitment. Just not my thing.

Stupid

Ugh, this was one of the most ridiculous and stupid books I've ever tried to read. I got to chapter 7 and the unbelievable meter catapulted into outer space. A very juvenile high school freshman girl (maybe 14 years old?) is writing to a man 10 years or more her senior that she kissed once (her only kiss ever) who is in the military. He is not answering her correspondence at all, but she continues for several months or a year. At the point where I had to give up, she's going on and on about how she is so hot right now and how she is positioned sitting at the moment and what she thinks sex should be like. Really? This guys hasn't answered any of her text messages to him, and yet at some point further into the book this man becomes President of the US and they marry and there's a menage. I'm not a prude, I actually don't mind the age thing (in a book), but the little girl just acts so juvenile not street smart or anything that could make this edgy and therefore make it work. Nope, it's not working for me.

Yes, Mr. President indeed!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, definitely! Stephanie Rose does an incredible job narrating all of the characters so perfectly and distinctly! This book was crazy hot, but also keeps the listener engaged and curious to find out what's going to happen next.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved unraveling the mystery between the past and the present and how all the characters were intertwined and connected. There is some seriously sexy times in this book that pushed my comfort zone in the best way!

What about Stephanie Rose’s performance did you like?

Stephanie Rose was phenomenal! I loved how she voiced each character so perfectly to their personality and distinctly so that there was no confusion about who was speaking. Her male voices were amazing! Ash was rough and gravelly, while Embry was lighter and more playful. Just wow!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES! I was dying to know what would happen next and the scenes with Greer, Ash, and Embry had me feeling especially thankful for headphones because they were smoking hot! An incredible book and start to the trilogy!

Any additional comments?

Since this is book 1 in the series, please keep in mind that the book does end with a cliffhanger (and what a doozy it is!) I can't wait for more!!

Just OK

I wasn't really impressed with this book. The charters really got on my last nerve. I really just had the feeling that the two men should of just been together. It was a different plot with the POTSUS, First Lady and the VP. I feel like it was too much back and fourth with the past and present, and not enough chemistry with the Female lead.

Unfortunately I think I let all the hype get me too excited for this book. My expectations were extremely high since everyone I know was raving about it. I’m not saying it wasn’t good but I sadly was expecting spectacular and for me this was not.
I enjoyed the storyline and I keep telling myself the authors might still fill in the million holes in this story over the next two books. I had a few small issues with this book and the way the relationships played out but that is because I really dislike insta-love and this book was that X2! I wish their was more build up of the love story and even the sex. Besides that, I was very intrigued by the political & religious aspects of this book but sadly they fizzled out to more of a side note. The wedding night was hot but really the only real MM sex we get is “them together in the shower” and yes I am talking about when she says they were together and that’s just mean to not give the details! I saw the ending coming a mile away but I’m hoping it’s going to make book 2 heavier on the storyline. I am not losing hope, I am moving on to book 2 and now maybe with different expectation book 2 will blow me away!

The narration was great. She does a great job with the men and the difference between their voices!

Utter Garbage

The dialogue and story are soo stupid and like nails on a chalkboard to sit through. After nearly a third of the book I stopped listening to it because I can't imagine the writing will suddenly get better and worth my time.

Loved It

This was a really good book so good that I stayed up all night reading it. The kinky President. Greer Galloway is the granddaughter of a former Vice President and she met Maxen "Ash" Colchester when she was 16 years old he was a Captain in the Army and ten years older than her and although he kissed her nothing else happened. Four years after that they meet again only she finds out he has a fiancée and she is heartbroken so as she is leaving a party she runs into his best friend Embry Moore who is also heartbroken and she spends the night with him and losing her virginity to him and when he doesn't call she is once again heartbroken. Fast forward five years Embry who is now Vice President turns up in her office telling her that the President wants to see her. Ash has wanted her for ten years his wife Jenny died of cancer a year ago and he sees as his chance to have Greer. This book was really hot the President is Kinky he is a dark and dirty Dom he has also been hurt in the past he was adopted as a baby and at his dead wives funeral he finds out who is father is turns out his father was President when Greer's grandfather was vice President. Ash also has a couple of deep dark secret's and on of them being that he has been in love with his best friend and Vice President for years and he even asked him to marry him twice and was turned down. Embry feels like a third wheel he is in love with both of them as well. This book was told from Greer POV she was raised around politics so she knows how to play the game. I did not like her cousin Abilene she was a jealous B*tch and I believe that she had something to do with the cliffhanger in this book. Ash warned Greer about Abilene 10 years ago and when she tried to kiss him and she didn't listen I would have cut her off after that. Greer feels insecure when around her she thinks that she is not as pretty as she is and she has two powerful men in love with her. This was a really good book and I was really glad that the author gave us backstory on these three and it was really hot the sex scenes were really good. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am really looking forward to reading books 2 and 3.

HATED IT

Would you try another book from Sierra Simone and/or Stephanie Rose?

I honestly don't think I would read another of her books. I did not like this book at all! I have nothing good to say about it. It could have been such a great book - the story of a love triangle would have been great but the dominance and the disrespect for women made it so I could not finish the book. This woman is supposed to be a professor at Georgetown University - I would think she would be such a strong female yet she lets this man dominate and control her and she likes it! I have written and deleted this review 3 times now. I don't want to make it about me and feminism but I did not like it - not at all!!

What could Sierra Simone have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

It was such a good story with both men in love with the same woman. I did not like the dominance so I stopped when I couldn't take it anymore!

Would you be willing to try another one of Stephanie Rose’s performances?

Yes

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Anger

Any additional comments?

Did not finish.
