Publisher's Summary

For many of Cameron Wolfe's 33 years, he's resisted the rage his drunken father's genes passed on to him. Tired and worried for the safety of those around him, he stands on the edge of a remote lake and puts a gun to his head. Jags, his psychic and empathic stepbrother, thwarts Cam's plans for self-destruction. And in an effort to convince Cam he's not a monster who deserves a bullet to the head, Jags implores Maggie for help.
Only a freshman in high school, Maggie Stewart was brutally gang-raped by members of a rival football team. Determined to keep the attack out of the media and away from her father's campaign for mayor, she refused to press charges or even reveal the names of her attackers.
She is unable to get close to or trust a man and spends the next decade in denial, living the wild life, daring life to throw more trouble her way. Then she meets Cam.
Has she finally met her match?

Wow! This Is More Than Typical Broken/Fixing Story

Cameron Wolfe is an angry man, perhaps it began when he had to kill his abusive father. Since then the only feeling he feels is rage. He has learned how to control it, how to tamp it down but it is always there.

Maggie is a strong woman with a gut wrenching past incident. When she was in high school she was assaulted by four players from an opposing football team. But she hasn't told anyone but her best friend about the attack and she isn't going to start with this Cameron.

Maggie has hired him as a wilderness guide for a few days. He teaches her about hiking, the outdoors and other stuff like that.

Although they sleep in separate tents during this period, more than once Cameron has woken up from a horrific dream that seems all too real. Maggie hear's the commotion and tries to wake him up, to help him. Instead she almost gets herself killed by Cameron rage.

They finally end up sleeping together, but that is it – sleeping.

I don't think that I can share anything else without spoiling. This book is filled with twists and turns and a magnificent way of understanding the assault even though it is been many years since the attack. Will she opened up to Cameron? How will he react if she does?

This is an excellent book for one who reads thrillers, romance and mystery. There is so much packed in and yet I cannot wait for the next in the series. Exciting, riveting and just enough to pull at your heartstrings.

The narrator is absolutely great. Ian Murray is able to capture the emotion and sentiment behind each character. There is nothing distracting about his performance of the female characters then there is the male characters. This is definitely worth an above average rating.

Although I received this book in exchange for my review which includes thoughts and opinions, I would have purchased it with a credit out right given what I know now. This is the excellent beginning to a new series and I cannot wait until the next one comes out. I will be looking for it.

Summary Doesn't Do It's so Much More..

I enjoyed this book. I was a little confused at first because this book feels a little "all over the place" it's very jumpy but after a few chapters I was on board.

The story jumps around from all the different character's POV so you get so much more that just the main story. The story line was really good and very fast paced. We get a lot from the secondary characters and I love side stories in a book!

Most of the characters were dark and troubled. My only problem with the main characters is that I had a hard time feeling the "pull" at first, once they were together it was totally there but when they had only met twice and she was just trying to sleep with him even though she didn't seem to really like him that much and he was just plain grumpy and mean to her, they just didn't seem to like each other enough for the instant love feeling that followed (for him at least).

I did really like the special ability that Jags has and I'd love to get more info on that. I hope that will be in book 2. I loved that Cam took such good care of Gramps & that Maggie's dad stepped up!!! Those two things just make those characters more real to me :)

The narration was not my favorite. His voice was good, and the reading was good too but it was SO slow. I had to speed up the narration to X1.25 and then it was perfect (I have only sped up narration once before so this isn't normal for me).

All in all this is a great start to the series and I will definitely read book 2.

***Given to me in exchange for an honest review!
