Publisher's summary

Stuntman Adam Campbell returns home to Riverbend, Texas, after being seriously injured in a movie stunt gone wrong. He settles in to heal at his family's ranch, where his four brothers, famous trick riders, train horses.

Adam is stunned to find Bailey Farrell working there - she was the shy girl who'd helped Adam graduate high school so he could run off to Hollywood. Except the budding Bailey, with whom Adam had a brief but intense affair, has blossomed into a beautiful woman. Now the sparks that had once ignited between them threaten to explode.

Adam is beaten up and broken down and has lost his nerve - the stunt that injured him also killed his best friend. The only one he can turn to is Bailey, but will Bailey, who has come back to Riverbend to lick her wounds after a painful divorce, be willing to help him again?

Entertainment!

Stuntmen are always interesting to hear about, and Adam Campbell is no exception. Coming home to his family of 4 brothers after a terrible accident has Adam reevaluating his life. With the death of his best friend in the same stunt that caused his injuries, Adam has to come to terms with "getting back on the horse". Bailey Farrell is Adam's high school girlfriend, who is now at his family ranch learning to stunt ride. Will their chemistry reignite? Bailey may be the only medicine that can cure Adam. Ashley has written a family of strong, funny but loving men, each with a different personality but each also having each other's back. Getting to know them will make you smile with the banter and love their bond to bring out the best in Adam. Bailey is a good strong female character with her own flaws, but we get to see her blossom as well with the help of the Campbells. Getting to know the rest of the family will be a pleasure in the rest of the series.

Eric G Dove narrates this story. I love his soft spoken performances, he has a slight drawl and gives each character a distinguishing voice. He always gives a comfortable narration making each story enjoyable.

Another fantastic romance by Jennifer Ashley

Have you listened to any of Eric Dove’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

he's very good at western romance, great drawly voice

Any additional comments?

Adam is the first book in bestselling author Jennifer Ashley’s contemporary Riding Hard series set in the Texas Hill Country. It’s a spicy and sweet second chance romance starring Adam Campbell and Bailey Farrell, who are genuine and likeable, have amazing chemistry and their romance is as sizzling as a hot Texas summer. With a fast paced narrative, action packed scenes and an engaging storyline plus some fabulous costars this amazing author once again makes her tale come to life for her audience. Book one does a great job of setting the stage for stories to come

The audible version is put in the very capable voice of Eric Dove. His drawly aw shucks southern baritone, slow paced reciting, impressive range and excellent talent of sounding so natural while vocalizing male, female and kid voices too makes him the perfect choice for this novel.

SUMMARY:
Stunt man to the stars Adam Campbell pretty much went for what he wanted and got it for most of his life. That is until a stunt went horribly wrong killed his best friend and left him broken and burned. What else could he do but go home to Texas, the loving arms of his family and the family’s very successful trick riding operation. When he arrives he’s stunned to find his high school sweetheart learning the dangerous trade and he is not happy about it, not after what he just went through.
Bailey Farrell left small Riverbend Texas for the city lights and a job in Austin but after an agonizing divorce she came home to heal and got a job on the Campbell ranch learning to stunt ride. When the oldest Campbell brother and her first love comes home to recover from a dreadful accident her first thought is that she’ll do whatever it takes to help get him back on his feet, the second thought is that she never really stopped loving him.

Loved It

Great start to a new series. I loved the way family values are woven into this series and how the mother who raised five boys instilled in them something that came out as they faced each obstacle. This series is worth the listen.

Not what I expected.

The story was narrated very well, too vanilla for my taste. I had no problem reading it because it was well written.

Pretty Good Reading

This was a pretty darn good read. A little action, a few challenges, and some romance to wrap it up.

okay

First I want to say I am a huge Jennifer Ashley fan. I own a TON of her audiobooks. I have the whole Shifter series. All the Kat Holloway series and my very favorite...CAPTAIN LACEY. i love those books. I listen to them regularly. This book is not like those. What do I mean? This book felt 'light'. It didn't have the depth that the other series has. I know its not the same kind of series, but it didn't feel meaty. I almost wondered who wrote it. Its not bad, mind you. Not at all. But not the same. Would I recommend this book? yes. I most likely will get the next one to see if my opinion changes. Meanwhile I'll wait for the next Kat Holloway series and Captain Lacey books. The narration was ok.
