Publisher's Summary

Sixteen-year-old Katherine Thompson wasn’t trained to rule a coven. That was her sister - perfect, beautiful Rose. But when a mysterious plane crash kills off the heir presumptive of the Sandersville coven she has no choice.
After stepping in to fill her sister’s shoes, Katherine realizes she didn’t have a clue - faery wars, depressed trolls and angry unicorns are just the beginning.
For centuries, her family has served the high Queens on both sides of the Atlantic but it is a well-known rule that mid-level witches stay away from high-level Queens.
But when Katherine’s youngest cousin vanishes without a trace in the Atlanta court and no one wants to investigate, Katherine decides to step into the darkness on her own. She will soon discover that nothing, especially in a queen's court, is as it seems.

Slow with no resolutions

Lots of questions introduced but no answers. Main character is not very likeable and motivations muddy. I like some of this authors other books so I'll check out book two when it comes out.

Great first start

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

absolutely. The only thing that is disappointing is the waiting. I now understand the reason why my friends, family and readers of my first book, tell me their going to have to reread the first book to remember why they liked it.

What did you like best about this story?

the continuity between the writer and reader. The character differences was pronounced by the reader and that means a lot when audio is involved.

Which scene was your favorite?

Yes she did. It was interesting how it was done actually. How she realized the differences between her mothers actual faces. She knew of the motherly side but the queenly side was eye opening.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I found just bright spots in this articular reading. She was very thorough and she took her time. so, no I didn't find anything.

Any additional comments?

Yes. However long it takes to write the next installment. Please let us know at the end of each book how long it will be for the next one. LOL

This is one of those really annoying books where nothing happens, then just when it looks like something is finally about to happen the book ends. Frustrating doesn't even begin to cover it. I can't believe I actually wasted the best part of 7 hours on this - 7 hours! The main character is just tedious. She basically spends the whole book bemoaning her entire existence, and none of the other characters are particularly endearing. Maybe if you were 11 years old you might find something redeeming about this book, otherwise complete waste of time.
