Publisher's summary

A full-length standalone romantic comedy from USA Today best-selling author R.S. Grey.

When her mother's incessant matchmaking hits an all-time high, Georgie Archibald does what any sensible woman would do: she flees the country.

Seeking refuge in the picturesque seaside village of Vernazza, Italy, Georgie's only plan is to lie low, gorge herself on gelato, and let the wine and waves wash her troubles away...that is until she wakes up in a bed that belongs to the most romantic-looking man she's ever seen.

Gianluca. After going out of his way to rescue her, the former London financier turned mysterious recluse makes it clear that despite acting as her white knight, he has no plans to co-star in her fairytale.

But Georgie isn't asking for his heart - she's merely intrigued.

After all, Gianluca isn't just gorgeous - tall and tan from days spent in the sun - his touch sets her world on fire. With him, Georgie experiences the most intoxicating passion she's ever known, and it only takes a few steamy nights for her to realize that sometimes running away from trouble is the best way to find it.

Holiday Romance.

I have been a fan of this authors for a while now, and I had thought I’d read all her books but recently discovered this one was unread, which I quickly fixed.

Georgie flees London due to her mother’s meddling and heads to a place she pointed to on the world map - Vernazza Italy. Straight away I had to look up what this village was like, as it was described so vividly and it looked as gorgeous as it sounded. Georgie makes a grand entrance to the market place and needs assistance from Gianluca and his cousin. Georgie is smitten but realizes nothing will come of it, as even after five years, Gianluca is still morning his late wife. They do form a friendship and set about restoring his grandmother’s B&B which Georgie hopes to manage and stay in Vernazza for a while.

I was a little worried when I first started reading that I wasn’t going to enjoy this one, I felt Georgie was too pushy and stubborn. Then once I settled in, I understood her motive of helping Gianluca out of his comfort zone so he could live his life again. And if she could spend a little time in his company, then a bonus for her. Gianluca slowly thawed towards Georgie, but would never go all the way as his heart was still with Allie. But it takes a strong and brave man to see that he was young enough to be able to love two woman in his life time, while not being unfaithful to his late wife and fully commit to his new relationship. This book has a slow burn feel to it and I loved watching them fall for each other, even with the past issues. They had good banter and there is humor throughout with the secondary characters as well. Well worth the read.

I picked up the audio so I could listen and read along, which I love to do. I found that both these narrators were very good. Victoria Aston was exactly how I thought Georgie would sound and she had her emotions and quirks down pat. Roger Frisk has a very alluring voice and I could listen to him more. I did find it odd though that his own chapters he had an English accent but when Victoria read his lines in her chapters, he had an Italian accent. Even so, I enjoyed the audiobook as much as I did the ebook.

Oh My Liam Neeson, I've Been Taken

Georgie is a most delightful person and her crazy antics kept me in stitches. Every time she found herself in an untenable situation, which was often cause she is a nutty mess, she used her spunk, wit and determination to make positive changes. It's great that she's so tenacious because that personality trait is definitely needed to deal with Gianluca, who after 5 years is still grieving his late wife. Georgie quickly makes friends while on her new adventure and with their help she eventually wears Gianluca down until he finds her charming and irresistible. Can Georgie turn a vacation fling into a lifelong love? If she can that would certainly appease her mother.

I love the narrators and their abilities to fluidly change from a British to an Italian accent. The flow was very natural and kept me listening intensely until the very end.

Absolutely worth a credit.

Funny and Endearing Romance!

Georgie Archibald is 26 years old with a mother who wants to see her married off, something she made known to Georgie when at the age of 20 her mother tells her she is starting to get old. Fed up with being set up by her mother on an endless string of ill-fated blind dates Georgie decides she is going to take matters into her own hands and basically runs away - she closes her eyes spins a globe and points to a place, which on the second attempt happens to be Italy. She just knows she is going to find love and a husband, it’s fate!

I really enjoyed this book! We first met Georgie in The Summer Games:Settling the Score as Freddie’s scene stealing sister, and I remember listening and thinking ‘I hope she gets her own book.’ You don’t have to read that one though to appreciate this one, it completely stands on its own. Gianluca a former financier from London moved back to Italy 5 years ago after a sad turn of events brings him there, and now while he may have women clamoring for his attention he wants nothing to do with any of them or a relationship - he prefers solitude. Vivacious Georgie does a great job of bringing broody Gianluca out of his shell. (I love how she rewards herself with chocolate every time she gets him to talk!) This book has a lot of humor, a lot of great lines and is just a lot of fun in general. I loved the slow burn, we really get to know the characters and see them grow.

Victoria Aston and Roger Frisk did a great job with the narration! I’ve never listened to anything by them but I certainly will in the future. Victoria perfectly captured Georgie’s adventurous spirit and wit. She plays the perfect optimist while still bringing gravity into the performance and not making her seem flighty. Roger did a great job with all of the accents and various characters!

R.S. Grey does a wonderful job with bringing out the beauty of Italy. She sets the scene well enough that you can picture yourself there - it’s vibrant and engaging. This is one that I will definitely be listening to again!

Dreamy

A beautiful tale that explores the idea of landing in paradise yet perfectly describes the cycle of life with some profound words. I drifted off into a dreamworld while listening to the narration. Another excellent read.

A Place In The Sun

what a lovely story, very romantic, predictable, cause it needed to end like it did.
just delightful, narrators excellent. Walked around thinking in an English accent.

R.S Grey is my fave.

This story was so lovely. It’s beautifully written, the characters develop nicely I didn’t feel like anything was rushed. I found myself laughing when Gorgi went on her rants. When she was in pain or sad I felt every emotion with her..
