Tall and thin, twenty-eight-year-old Bronwyn Palmer has become positively gaunt, a ghost of her former self. That self was - and still is - the wife of a rich, handsome executive with an ocean-view house and his own security staff.
It was in that house, two years ago, that Bryce Palmer learned Bronwyn was pregnant with their first child. But Bryce’s rage over his impending fatherhood touched off a chain reaction of emotional and physical traumas that wounded them both. For Bronwyn, it meant fleeing the perfect marriage to start over with nothing but a precocious daughter named Kayla to care for. For Bryce, it meant a tortuous two years spent blaming his wife for deserting him, and living with the pain of not knowing his child. Now a chance encounter has brought Bronwyn back into Bryce’s life, both bearing scars...and neither knowing the whole truth of that fateful night that drove them apart.

I'm usually complaining about so much angst and misunderstandings in novels but not this time. There was a LOT of angst and misunderstandings in this book BUT it was the best angst and misunderstandings I've ever read. I loved everything about this book. Loved Bryce and Bronwyn, perfect couple. Loved Kayla and Rick and Lisa. This was a wonderful love story. I loved The Unwanted Wife but this one was even better.
As odd as it may seem I listened to this book as I read along and I know if everyone had done the same it would have gotten 4 and 5 stars across the board, and for $1.99 for the audible version you couldn't have gone wrong. I just hope the next book, His Unlikely Lover, comes out on audible at the same time the book is released.
As to the narrator: Ms. Eyre did a wonderful job. Every man, woman, and child sounded just like they were supposed to. Some of the women narrators don't even try to sound like men and I just hate for the hero's voice to sound just like the heroine's. Sure, a lot of time all the men's voices sound the same but at least they sound like men. I'm never disappointed in Ms. Eyre's narration.
