Publisher's Summary

Threatened by French spies, assassins, and calculating suitors, can Lady Henrietta Harcourt trust the infamous rake, Lord Cordelier Rathbourne, with her carefully guarded family secrets?

In his new, undisclosed position as Director of English Intelligence, Cord faces more peril keeping the brilliant Harcourt family of code breakers safe than he did as undercover spy in Napoleonic France.
Cord's passionate attraction for the indomitable Henrietta hasn't diminished in his four years abroad, but neither has Henrietta's memory of his libertine past.
In pursuit of the missing brother, Henrietta and Cord become entangled in a web of international intrigue, danger, and white hot passion.
Men and Women from the class of privilege risk their lives to defend England against the treacherous designs of Napoleon. They confront disaster, scandal, and passion as they pursue their code of honor and love.

A Code of Love Bk 1

Any additional comments?

This semi historical work of fiction is a great pleasure to listen to.There is much intrigue afoot, romance a plenty and a hint of the next book in the series.Pearl Hewitt does a fantastic job of narrating. Her voices for characters are very believable.

Wonderful

A beautiful story of Lady Henrietta and Lord Rathborne. Can she trust him with her family secrets. Cord seems to remember her from awhile ago. Excellent story and easy to listen to while walking or relaxing. Thanks for giving me the chance to review this amazing audio story. Just flowed along until the end.

Good story, somewhat spoiled by Plot

I enjoyed the story but it was somewhat spoiled by s barely believable plot and at times a totally unrealistic time line. A pity.

Heroin sounded about 12 yrs old !!

The book was very good but didn't like the high girlish voice used for the heroin not at all as an intelligent young woman should sound like !!!

Some enjoyable elements

I very much liked the idea of the hero and the heroine but not who they actually were. Eg Henrietta is strong and intelligent but she has many TSTL moments and sure does cry a lot. The hero seemed to alternate between bamboozled and aggressive.

There’s also a massive plot hole regarding the code book that was obvious to me but which never occurred to these experts in intelligence? It was overly complicated with too many characters.

I liked Cord’s aunt and the couple has some sweet moments.
