Publisher's summary

Mother-to-be Mary Jo Wyse arrives in Cedar Cove on Christmas Eve, searching for her baby's father. David Rhodes had said he'd be in town. But he isn't. Which leaves Mary Jo stranded, pregnant and alone. And there's no room at the local inn....

So Grace Harding brings Mary Jo home to her nearby ranch. She and her husband, Cliff, have a houseful of guests, but they offer her a room over their stable (currently sheltering the animals - including a donkey and a camel - for Cedar Cove's Nativity pageant!).

When Mary Jo goes into labor that night, a young man named Mack McAfee, a paramedic, comes to her rescue, just as her brothers - the three Wyse men - show up in town. The people of Cedar Cove join them in celebrating the birth of baby Noel. But no one has more to celebrate than Mack. Because this Christmas brings him faith, hope and love...

What Child Is This

A feel good story that wonderfully mirrors the first Christmas Eve. Mary Jo is a nice young girl who gets pregnant by a scoundrel who has her believing that he will be back for her before their child is born. When it becomes evident that this was just another in his long list of lies she goes in search for him in his home town. Cedar Cove is small town where community support and kindness are in abundance and the father of her child is well known for not fitting in, he in fact does not live there at all.

As she becomes more disillusioned signs of strain due to her impending arrival become serious and is immediately taken into the fold by the Cedar Cove residents. She has an instant attraction to the, night in shining armor, EMT that comes to her rescue. Grace, the local librarian will not take no for an answer so Mary Jo finds herself staying in a very cozy upstairs studio apartment above her barn.

There are many cute and touching twists that make this a wonderful reflection of how we can all embrace the spirit of Christmas. Sandra Burr has a way of capturing all of the personalities of the ongoing characters in the Cedar Cove series. A fun and heart felt listen.

Sandra Burr, Debbie Macomber, and Christmas!

My all-time favorite narrator Sandra Burr reading a Debbie Macomber Christmas-themed book is beyond awesome. This is my first book by this author, which I came across after finishing the last Sandra-narrated Murder She Wrote and was searching for more books read by her. I'm enjoying this story immensely, and I'm looking forward to reading more books with this great partnership of Debbie and Sandra (and Christmas!).

Kindness, Family, Christmas

I love this modern day tale of an unwed mother, with three older brothers, who want to "defend her honor". And I very much appreciate that real life Christians, when faced with a choice to love or condemn, chose to do what our Lord would do . . . what He DID do. This is a precious story of mistakes, love and redemption. And listeners who are put off by "Christian overtones", must have somehow missed the title, A Cedar Cove CHRISTMAS. There is no Christmas without Christ. And for those who have been hurt by the church, rest assured there is none of that in Debbie Macomber's books . . . so come to the stable where the Christ child lays and rest your weary soul. You will be glad you did.

Christmas, Cedar Cove style

Would you listen to A Cedar Cove Christmas again? Why?

This is going to become a staple Christmas tale for me. I loved it & it put me in the holiday spirit so easily.

What about Sandra Burr’s performance did you like?

The narrator brought this story to life in many ways. She made it very easy & fun to listen to.

Any additional comments?

This story is perfect to put you in the holiday spirit. It’s perfect as part of the Cedar Cove series or as a stand-alone for Christmas.

Through this tale Macomber pulled at my heartstrings and made me laugh like crazy. It was absolutely perfect. This story is simultaneously completely original and a traditional love story. I also love the many parallels you can draw to the original Christmas story. Not only does Macomber create a brilliant storyline for us to follow but she brings it to life with her brilliant descriptions and captivating narrative so that you can picture it all.

The character development in this novel is phenomenal. Although this novel falls well into the series, you don’t ever feel like there’s anyone that you don’t know, nor any aspect of the story that is beyond you. I love how the narrator gives each character their own voice. Not only do you get to know them as individuals through the development on the author’s part, but it’s impossible not to picture them because of this.

This story brought tears to my eyes more than once and definitely warmed my heart. It’s the perfect modern day Christmas story to bring you into the holiday spirit.
