A Pazzo Western Love Tale!

My rating is actually 4.5 stars!

An enjoyable story to listen to! A sweet love story with adventure, suspense, and touches of drama that add heart to these lovely characters. Kept my attention, reeled me in to the end, and now I sit and sigh happily at the satisfying conclusion.

What a fun addtion to this series

Any additional comments?

Caterina is one hot head Italian if she thinks it then it comes out. In some way she reminds me of myself. My mouth has gotten me in some trouble from time to time as you will see Caterina’s has. Caterina is a lovely feisty lady who is honest, caring and giving. When you put her and Kade together you get to see sparks fly almost from the start. They have some powerful chemistry that will pull them together even when they want to walk away. Kade isn’t looking for a wife, he doesn’t want one no way no how is he tying the knot. He will find it hard to walk the other way when he tastes this little Italians cooking, if the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach than Kade is in for trouble with the way he loves to eat.

Meghan Kelly is a very talented narrator that brings so much to the story. I really enjoy her many different voices which she gives such emotion to. There is no repeat of words or any changes in volume. You have no trouble knowing what character is talking or just what they are feeling. Her tones are right on the money giving a very in depth feeling of emotion which include anger, confusion, feeling of lost, lonely, pain, happiness and lots of smiles and a few laughs. Her Caterina is so great she really goes all out with the hot head Italian bring this character to life right before your eyes. I enjoyed how she really shows the sparks flying between them. Her female voices are just as great as her males, the old man who is cranky is so fun you find yourself chuckling as he and Caterina meet head on. This is a very clean, crisp audio that is very realistic that you almost feel like you are watching a movie. If any breaks were taken I could not tell. It has been a pleasure watching this narrator grow and learn how to really grab the true characters giving you a delightful wonderful listen you get lost in. I am unsure which is better the audio or the book. Both are great but the audio does add a lot to this authors story

With the mafia after Caterina she is on the run and runs right into Kade who is a hot cowboy Deputy Sheriff who is as bullheaded as she is. Kade wants her but he doesn’t, he has set his mind to not wanting her but he doesn’t want anyone else to have her either. He might be much bigger than Caterina but they are well match in every way even in their wit and temper. When they go out it you can almost feel the sparks fly. I guess you could say they have a love-hate relationship. The author kept me chuckling as these two went head to head over many issues.

The author gives you a wonderful plot with a little action, thrills and a few hold your breath moments. She brings back some wonderful characters from her first book, it is like visiting old friends or family catching up with what is new in their lives. I loved the way she touched on a few important things from the first book to set the stage for this book. When I think of the west I always think about outhouse, no telephones etc, I am always a little surprise when Shanna puts things like plumbing, telephones in her story. It reminds me how far they comes from years past, I had to laugh at myself when I first picked up one of her books and thought NO that can’t be right. Then I reminded myself that I needed to come a few years into the future lol.
I love this series Shanna brings so much to a story with your touch of real life history. I know when I see her name it will be an outstanding read. Pendleton is such a lovely town with friendly people who help and look after each other. I think I might remember a time long ago when life was more this way. It is a shame things have changed so much.

I love her characters she shows how both men and women can be strong and still work together, become a family. She reminds us people back than had to be strong to survivor. Life was tough, you had to fight to keep what was yours but it was fun, filled with wonderful people who shared a command goal. I love her writing style, the words flow easy with characters you can relate to. I enjoy her main characters along with her outstanding supporting ones. It was wonderful to see how some of the ones from the first book were. I really enjoy how she brings evil as in the mafia and gives a compelling story of honor, trust and love. It was a wonderful outstanding clean read with passion, love, family and honor. I cannot wait to see where she takes this series. I highly recommend any of her books. I plan to read them all

Engaging story

I enjoyed this story, after I decided to ignore the weak narration. In addition to mispronouncing city names and some words, her tone is flat. That aside, the second installment of Pendleton Petticoats is a good listen! I enjoyed learning about everyday life at that point in our town's history.

Great narration brings this book to life!

Shanna Hatfield writes fantastic stories with well developed characters, romance, and humor. Caterina is a young, feisty Italian cook who is forced to leave her family and move west to Pendleton to avoid marrying a powerful member of the mafia. Kade, the local sheriff, has a hard time staying away from the Italian spitfire.

Most narrators aren’t able to do justice to a wonderful read, but Meghan Kelly pulls it off perfectly. She’s a very talented narrator, and I’ll be listening to more of her audiobooks!

Riveting!

This is the first Pendleton book I have finished, and I was captivated from the very first few lines. Such a thriller waiting to see if Caterina would indeed escape the mafias plans for her. Loved the Italian cooking and recipes she takes with her to the West. The love story that struggles to emerge between Kade and Caterina is beautiful and bittersweet to the end. Absolutely a sweet romance with a full backstory of the town's people, neighbors, and family.
I was thrilled with Meghan's narration, the different character voices and accents kept me in admiration of her talent to bring these characters to life.
This was a beautiful collaboration of author and narrator, and I was thrilled to find this book in Audible!

Italy in the south!!

I love period pieces and bow is been a fan and offered it will take me back in time and feel and hear the part of the culture the list and drawl of that era. The narrator Megan Kelly typically I find her voice very constant but I have to give her props for this book she blew me away !!The writing was amazing that,in my eyes, I felt that I was actually there in the south. Megan , girl, the distinctions she was able to make between the characters between male and female between Aundie and the sheriff and Katerina and Kade especially was just phenomenal. I have to say this is one of the best books that I've listen to you from Megan Kelly thus far and I look forward to listening to so many more. This book was given to me as a gift for my honest and unbiassed review

Great Story!

Caterina is running for her life and finds herself in Pendleton, OR. Her love for cooking amazing Italian food is a welcomed new cuisine for this little Oregon town. What she does not expect though is how true the statement, "A way to a man's heart is through his stomach." is. Even though the citizens of Pendleton is loving this new food, Caterina is hiding a secret that she is terrified to let the law help her with.

Kade is the Pendleton's deputy who has decided that having a wife is not possible due to the danger it may bring her. He cannot resist, however, the mouth-watering food that Caterina introduces him to. As he cannot get enough of the wonderful food of Pendelton's newest citizen brings, he also finds that his heart is falling for the spitfire cook who not only satisfies his physical hunger, but also his hunger for love. Kade knows she is hiding something behind her wonderful talent. Can he gain her trust even as they both clash as both personalities are as strong as the food Cat makes?

Shanna Hatfield is a wonderful story teller. After I started this book, I found that there is a book before this one that I have not listened to, but I did not feel that I missed anything. I do think that it would be a richer story had I listened to that one first, but this is a GREAT stand alone too! I plan to listen to the first book!

Meghan Kelly does a beautiful job narrating this book. Her characters come to life as she tells Catarina and Kade's story. I look forward to listening to more books by Megan!
