Publisher's summary

Single mom Vivi Vincent is thrust into her worst nightmare when she's trapped inside a mall during a terror attack along with her eight-year-old son. With the help of Jed Brennan, an FBI special agent on enforced leave, Vivi and her son survive the assault. But the danger is far from over.

Vivi's son may have witnessed critical details of the terrorists' future plans and is targeted for death, but he's mute, and he's traumatized. Still someone launches a strike against the FBI's safe house, and Jed fears the bad guys have an inside man. No longer knowing who to trust, he hides mother and son in a log cabin deep in the heart of the Wisconsin Northwoods. There Jed and Vivi try to figure out how to unlock the information inside her son's head. What they don't bargain for is the red-hot attraction that flares between them, or the extent of the sinister plot that threatens to rip apart not only any chance of happiness they might have together, but also the very fabric of American society.

Audio Review:
Eric Dove narrates this series. He utilizes multiple accents to accomplish character voices. It is always clear who is speaking and how they are feeling.

If you're looking for a fast-paced, thrilling mystery this is the book for you!

Good Story, Great Narration!

This was a good story. I did like the first story better. I felt like the romance in this story was more prevalent, but seemed more forced than than in the previous story. Sometimes the romance part of the story was repetitive. There is a sex scene, nicely written, not erotica.

I liked the hero, Jed (the name, not so much) he was handsome, smart and strong. I thought the heroine Vivi was okay too but she was kind of annoying sometimes.
Vivi's son, Michael's father was a total douche bag. I would have liked something to knock him down a peg or two.

The story line and plot were good. The beginning of the story did grab you right away with the terrorist mall shooting.

There is lots of dialogue throughout the book and the story did flow nicely and it was easy to follow along.

The plot is worth 4 stars but the romance part is only worth 2 stars. So the book gets 3 stars.

As for the narration, it was great! Eric Dove did a great job, I really like listening to him. He does a very good job giving everyone their own distinct voice and the women sound like women, He has a very nice reading voice too.

I LOVED IT!!!

I found this book to be thought provoking and full of action, suspense and romance. The theme of a mother's love for her child was so well done in this story too. This book is full of some very endearing characters and others who are despicable. The book is a standalone listen. I thought the narrator added so much enjoyment to the book with his distinguishable voices for the various characters. The imagery in this book was well done that I could envision so many scenes and locations.

Partially disappointed in the ending

What did you love best about Cold Pursuit?

Love the characters

Any additional comments?

Very disappointed Jed and Vivi didn't get another well deserved hot and steamy chapter together at the end and no update on Micheal's progress regaining his speech.

Cold Pursuit

Any additional comments?

What was supposed to be a relaxing afternoon at the mall with her boy after a stressful morning, turned out to be a nightmare when terrorists attack.
Murder and mayhem, and in the middle of it all Vivi gets help from an off duty FBI agent.
Jed was supposed to be on leave when he finds himself in the middle of a fight for his life. Trying to save as many as he can, he connects with a young boy.
When the threat against Vivi and Michael's life doesn't end at the mall, Jed steps up as protector, no matter what costs to his profession.
Contemporary romance, action, suspense and smutty fluff in a great combo. Love this series, it will keep you on the edge of your seat waiting for what'll happen next =)

The Plot thickens....

This time around the author chose a terrorist attack as the plot. Jed is an overworked agent on a forced vacation & just happens to be at the mall shopping when the attack occurs and ends up getting personally attached to single mom, Vivi & her special 8 year old son. It's a very interesting tangled web of blackmail, deception, secrecy & even a shocking Gateway revelation of the true enemy. In the end this couple realizes they can handle it all with each other to lean on. This story wasn't quite as romantic as previous, (A Cold Dark Place) it's still a great read & it was also great to get an update on Alex & Mallory.

Strong Male Hero

I really enjoyed the main male character Jeb, a genuinely strong and caring man who wasn't an alpha jerk. Jeb was protective without being overbearing, sexy without being aggressive and appreciative of Vivi's many good qualities.

I loved when Jeb offered to shoot Vivi's ex-husband David who was an arrogant, violent asshole. My only complaint: Vivi should have had David arrested for domestic abuse, after hitting both her and their son.

I appreciate the author for making the romantic hero gentle and respectful of Vivi. In too many recent novels, characters like David (abusive and violent) are portrayed as sexy, commanding and good husband material.

A thrilling read

Where does Cold Pursuit rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I'm really enjoying this series. It ranks quite high in the audios that I've listened to.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The hero Jed because he's intelligent sexy and exciting and Eric's narration of him made him come to life. Also the heroine Vivi was interesting.

What does Eric G. Dove bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His natural easy style of narration makes listening a pleasure, which enhances Toni Anderson's marvellous series.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Adventurous romantic suspense

great story with a fast pace

I really enjoyed this book. The suspense part was a bit different than other books i've read and I liked it. In this book you know who the players were but you really had ZERO idea of what they were doing and the suspense came in trying to figure out the why. Vivi was a great heroine, she was tender but when push came to shove she stepped up and handled business. Jed was just alpha enough to make me swoon, but not too alpha to where he was dragging his knuckles on the floor grunting. I love that both Vivi and Jed were flawed and not perfect by any means.

Michael.......

I didn't know what to make of him. Yeah he was adorable but I feld if you are going to give a kid an affliction then at least tell us why. Autism was danced around as a possible reason. As the mother of an autistic boy, YOU KNOW. We are left with having some hope for him but t would have been nice to have some reason and closure for him, but i am thrilled that he now has a father figure that adores him just as he is.

I am definitely going to back track and listen to book #1 and then continue to book #3.

Story - 3.5
narrator - 4

I know if I get a book narrated by Eric Dove I will not be disappointed. He always provides an awesome performance.
