Publisher's summary

Two FBI agents struggle with desire in the shadow of a killer, in the third installment of Aces & Eights.

Nate Gentry has been a rock for his two younger brothers since the day their mom walked out and left them with their abusive father. Now that they've grown up, he's watched Alex and Court fall in love and settle down. But Nate isn't made for romance. He keeps his relationships casual. And getting casual with his partner is a fantasy he can't shake...

Taylor Collins has feelings for Nate, too - and though they run hot, her best friend on the team is strictly off limits. Until a spark in his eyes says, Go for it. But reaching out could prove to be a bad move now that they're working closer together than ever, and on the most dangerous case of their careers.

An investigation into a brutal series of murders is stirring up bad memories for Taylor, and neither she nor Nate can imagine how close to home it's going to hit. When it does, Nate will risk everything - including his heart - to keep Taylor safe.

Story is Meh... Narration was good.

So yeah, this series started out so good with Jack of Hearts and since then just got kind of cheesy and barely okay. What a Bummer.

The story line is okay but the plot ended up being rather ridiculous. Really? After years all of a sudden Taylor has issues she never even knew about. DUMB!

I like the Gentry brothers and the undercover FBI agents owing a biker bar concept. But really? Why do you have to make these people have these inner demons that the aren't good enough for the other person and vice versa it is soooooo annoying!

Now, the sub plot that was snuck in about Nate trying to find their mother was way more interesting. It did leave an opening for a 4th book that I am hoping is good and not cheesy. A story with more story than sex is better. These aren't too extreme but definitely border on being in oversex drive.

As for the narration, it was good. I like both Sebastian York (I do wish he would work on his female voices though) and Amy McFadden. She does a good job on the male voices.

4 stars for McFadden and 2 for York..

Hmmm, not sure how to rate this. I Love all the players but there didn’t seem to be much of a story there was so much time spent with the one reason Nate couldn’t be in a relationship with Taylor and the 3 or 4 long drawn out sex scenes.

The mystery regarding Taylor’s mother’s murder, then discovering a serial killer was after Taylor was interesting but there was still something missing. There was too much skipping through pages and pages of unnecessary sex for me. More story would have been better and less about Nate and Taylor’s bed-scapades.

It was nice seeing Alex and Madison and Court and Lauren, and I will read Kinsey’s story BUT I will never understand why the Gentry brother’s mother EVER left them with that horrible father of theirs, knowing how they would be beaten until they grew up.

The F-bomb was used 17 times.

As to the narration: Amy McFadden did a great job with the men’s voice in this book but Sebastian York was terrible with the women’s voices. He gets so many 4 and 5 star reviews that he doesn’t think he should do any better with the women’s voices, or read with any emotion. He does have a wonderful reading voice and his men’s voices are absolutely awesome BUT can you really listen to Nate and Taylor have sex and not think it’s two men? Sebastian you should give a listen to Napoleon Ryan. He’s has a very sexy male voice and women sound exactly like women. Do something!

Love, love, love the Gentry Brothers! This is Nate's story and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Sebastian York is the perfect Nate Gentry. Fingers crossed there is a book about their sister.

Ace of Spades

Story line was good, just too wishy washy with the relationship of Nat and Taylor. They got together to soon and then the author didn't know what to do with them.

Love these characters!

This was the book I was waiting on and it was worth the wait. The characters were well balanced with mystery and intrgue. I like that the characters cross the books too. The narrator's were well chosen. Now I am looking forward to the next book!

Perfectly narrated for this story!

Where does Ace of Spades rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I loved it because it was action packed and romantic. The narrating was great for all of the different things going on in the story.

What other book might you compare Ace of Spades to and why?

I would compare it to Sandra Owen's other books in this series and the K2 books.

What about Amy McFadden and Sebastian York ’s performance did you like?

I loved the emotion and the way they were able to get the story across with the emotion in their voices.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I had a few giggles at the Gentry brothers.

Any additional comments?

I love this series so much and I was so excited to listen to Nate's book. Each of these men have had awesome stories to tell. Nate and Taylor's story was exciting and more importantly, I loved watching Nate let his walls down. He and Taylor deserved a happily ever after and I was so glad that they found it. The narration really enhanced the story. It was a great story!
