Publisher's summary

What is it about men anyway? Bad cars, bad jobs, even bad teeth - nothing convinces them that they can't snare a size-two babe with a D-cup chest. And after way too many Internet dates with men named "luvstick" and "bigdaddy182", Lucy Rothschild should know.

But sitting across from her now is "hardluvnman", and he seems different - sensitive, honest, and hot! He says he's a plumber while Lucy claims she's a nurse. She's really a mystery writer, dating online while researching her next book. Hey, everyone lies a little, don't they?

But Quinn is really an undercover cop hunting down a serial killer, and he sees Lucy as his top suspect. While he could really go for this smart, sexy woman with the killer bod - if that's the only thing "killer" about her - he knows he needs to wine and dine her and discover the truth. Hey, he realizes the dating scene can be deadly - but this is ridiculous!

Made My Day!

Very amusing story. Had to listen to it in one setting. Finding out who the killer was made me LMAO! I would swear to god that I used to work with that person. The characters were great. Can hardly wait to start on the next book.

Couldn’t finish

I finally stopped with a little more than an hour to go. I didn’t care about the characters or what happened to them. I tried and kept thinking it would get better since I usually like this author, but if it hasn’t happened yet it won’t.

Witty and fun page turner with a touch of murder

Enjoyed how this is a mystery book, but is also light and funny. While there were ups and downs with the romance bit, it didn't feel like unecessary angst was thrown in for the sake of it like with other books with overlapping genres.
Narrator was brilliant!

I almost gave it 5 stars

I wanted to give it 5 stars because it was a really good book but the H ruined it for me. I can understand why he did what he did and he had no choice but to lie to her because he was doing his job but after the h found out he never truly apologized until near the end and he never seemed to feel bad for it. He never tried to contact her again, when they were around each other again he would be all smirky and sarcastic about it and even taunted her about the other witnesses he had dated. I thought he became a real jerk and because of all of that I think she forgave him way too easily. It just really disappointed me and ruined the book for me. Now that I think about it I'm tempted to give it a lower rating but I won't. If she had made him appropriately sorry and not act like a jerk then it would've been a 5 star book for me. Also, he didn't act like he loved her until the end. Ugh. The narrator was good.

Great narrator!

Kathleen Early is fast becoming one of my fave narrators and this book is one of the reasons why. Not only does she have a great voice, the emotions she packs into it makes her narration even more astounding. The story was well plotted with fantastic character arcs for the hero and the heroine.

favorite romance story

Honestly I'm normally not a fan of romance stories, but... I'm currently experiencing cramps and the extreme need for all things chocolate so like all females I feel the need for everything lovey-dovey. This story was perfect, it wasn't an over heated "I love you" and "take me" story; it was a really f***ing interesting story and I loved it. The characters were great and I loved the narration. I will definitely be buying more books by Rachel Gibson. ( Oh and I also really enjoyed "See Jane Score" by Rachel Gibson as well)

Great Storyline

This was the first time that I gave a story like this a shot and I did not regret it.

repetitive...

the story had promise
... the book could have been half the length if phrases and words weren't so repetitive. the story really dragged. The narrator was enjoyable during dialog, plodding during the parts in-between. Itc was OK for a free book

Fun story!

Mystery writer Lucy Rothschild is working on her next book which includes a serial killer who is meeting her victims through online dating. For research, Lucy is also seeing various men who she meets online. After a series of duds, Lucy meets Quinn McIntyre who is different from the others. He is friendly, smart, and hot. But what Lucy doesn't know is Quinn is actually an undercover cop hunting for a serial killer who meets her victims online. He has met with several women while trying to discover the killer. But after meeting Lucy, she is Quinn's top suspect.

This is the first book in Rachel Gibson's Writer Friends series. It is a romantic comedy with a little bit of suspense thrown in. It's a fast-paced story with a lot of humor. I loved when Lucy would meet with her friends who are all writers. Their conversations were hilarious. I enjoyed this story, even though Lucy had a TSTL moment near the end.

Quirky but fun

What a quirky but fun listen
Storyline was great and the author brought laughter along with great real lifelike events. My first Rachel Gibson read/listen and I will read more of her work!
