Definitely Hot, But...

Delicious is another great book by Shayla Black. It is well written and very steamy, but I was beginning to tire of the guy and girl who love each other but won't admit it until there is mortal danger storyline. However, that being said, I did have a difficult time putting it down and allowing myself to sleep when appropriate. Also, I will still be continuing in the series. So, it is a conflicted feeling I review with. I still can not say enough good things about Lexi Maynard's narration of these stories. It is easy to keep track of who is talking and the voices are enjoyable. The book, although somewhat predictable was still very enjoyable and ultimately worth the credit.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I really like the story! I just wish I like the characters as much. Thru most of the book I wanted to strangle either Alyssa or Luc & down right hit Tyler with a bat repeatedly!!

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I understand the character's emotions & backstories are the heart of the book, but making them a little more likable to each other would have been nice for the reader.

What does Lexi Maynard bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She brought the character to life for me & did a great job of it, so much the character's personalities made me want to scream at them!

Did Delicious inspire you to do anything?

mmmm NO!! Maybe read the next book, but that's it...

I would have had Luc take more action when it came to Tyler & Alyssa's relationship. If the roles had been reserved Alyssa wouldn't have stand for all the personal touching they did.

Hmmm. Not as good as the previous 2...

But, still worth the read. This is a very erotic story, just like the previous 2. I like that the female character was strong but feminine. She was a bit too ... openly sexual(?) for me, but it makes for a good erotic story.

The male character was just a bit too tortured and determined to resist a relationship all the while continuing to sleep with her. It smacked of objectification.

Also, while I complain of her 'open sexuality', he takes it too far. Constantly thinking about how she must be sleeping with other people.

If this review seems disjointed, it probably is. There was a lot of flip flopping and frustration and stringing along in the book. It was still good, but some of the more negative things could have been handled better.

The passion between Luc and Alyssa....wow ....then of course her past and the suspense.

She did a great job narrating , brings characters to life and makes them real.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definitely ...could not wait for the next page , kept you wondering.

This 3rd book in the series was GREAT! Loved Book 1 ....Jack , oh my .....Liked book 2 , but not as good .....and the 3rd was a great way to wrap it up ....the best one !

Angst-filled tale

Part of a series. Can be read as a standalone but watch for spoilers.

I tried to enjoy this book but... either my stomach was in knots because it felt like I was trapped in an elevator with a couple fighting, or I was yelling "What an #*%hole!" into the air, or I was rolling my eyes because how many psycho/rapist/murderers can be obsessed with the same woman? The main male character, Luc, is really an over-the-top douchebag to Alyssa for most of the book.

On the positive side, I like that the author has characters that crisscross through several books. The characters have depth and interesting back stories.

My steaminess rating: Hot Damn, for graphic sexy times, some kink, and dirty talk.

I am enjoying this series. I really appreciate the strength of the women and the men. I also like how the narrator does not make her voice sound too gruff for the men's voices.

Woah!!!! Finger licking Good!

Wow! Black is getting better and better! Ok... we already know who Luc is from Decadent. Luc and Deke had the threesome with Kimber... We already know Alyssa from Wicked ties... the owner of the strip club. I vaguely remember in Decadent the mention of these to hooking up and the mention of the 6 hour romp. It did not register until now.

OMG! Black! WHAT! If you have listen to or read Decadent, Luc really has come full circle now. I love this story. Luc and Alyssa is so mismatched but so perfect and Luc... dang.. the way Black expand his character...OMG... it is sooo hot!!! If you enjoyed the smex from Wicked Ties and Decadent, well then, you will go crazy for this, plus the story is awesome too.

One fact I love about series is how they just keep going. Its like the characters just keep living.. ya know. I was wondering what was gonna happen to Luc and now I know.

Maynard is really getting up there with Xe Sands in narration. I really like her. She is very good. All her females from book to book sound the same, so I have to adjust a bit other than that... her narration is really good. Totally worth the buy/or credit...

you can't help but love this series

it's the truth. you can't help but fall deeply in love with these characters with their broken hearts and souls, trying desperately to be mended with sex to fill their empty holes. shayla black has such a way with words and this series is beautifully written. i usually want to listen to them two or three times before "letting them go" back into the void of my listening library, it's that good. they have me captured from beginning to end. the stories are never terribly long yet shayla manages to get so much into the story.

book three is just as charming as book one, and i loved the story between Luc and Alyssa. i couldn't get enough.

My least favorite of the series.

I generally really like the Wicked Lovers series, but this one just wasn't for me. Luc, the main guy, was a real jerk throughout the whole book. Alyssa, the girl, was manipulative and trashy (no matter how much the author tried to make her otherwise). There was way too much rape (past rape, remembered rape, attempted rape, etc.) and way too many bad guys. Just when you think the book is finally almost over, you realize there is yet another stalker. There wasn't anything I particularly liked about this book.
