Wonderful book to read when you want something relaxing, positive and happy. Nothing tragic or dark in it, so it’s the perfect thing to read when you need something soothing and cheering.

I either read or listen to this EVERY Christmas…..it’s THAT good. It’s Sweet, Cozy, it’s FUN…and all together a FEEL GOOD read!

5 star book & great narration

The plot was somewhat predictable but several good unexpected twists. Very satisfying and enjoyable. Kept my interest and sparked my imagination.

Not a Christmas story . . .

The only thing that makes CHRISTMAS AT LILAC COTTAGE a Christmas story is that it was set during the Christmas season. Otherwise it's a romance. I typically do not read this type of book, but was desperate for some Christmas spirit. I was sad it didn't help with my lack of festivity and excitement about the holiday. It was an okay story. I found that I have thought about the storyline a few times since I read it a few months ago, so maybe it was better than I first believed??? Anyhow-- the bottom line is:
-Romance
-Slow
-Performed better than written
-Edited very well
-NOT a Christmas story

Well, if you are looking for a book that has a ton of Christmas in it and nothing else I think you will like this book, the main reason I didn't like this book as much as I wanted is that it was unnecessarily long, I was bored from half of it when Penny already got together with Henry .. but the story kept dragging and so many things happened that I really didn't care for .. so yeah it was an ok book for Christmas

The narration was ok .. she could've been better but I had no major complaints about her

Where does Christmas at Lilac Cottage rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Not my normal fare, but I got a good deal so I had a listen. What a delightful and well-crafted story. I loved every minute of it. And I am on to the next book in the series. Heartwarming. Kind. Great characters. Kept me happy from start to finish (a difficult feat)!

What other book might you compare Christmas at Lilac Cottage to and why?

Well, not a book, but a movie. Jude Law and Cameron Diaz -- HOLIDAY.

Have you listened to any of Emma Newman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, I haven't, but she was really marvelous. Narration can destroy a great book, but Emma made this one even better.

Predictable story, but it's soft Romance and we love a happy ending, right? :)

Sweet but Too Many Angst

Sweet story, showing much promise but falling short overall because of too many teenaged angst for an adult woman. Fast Christmas read/listen, with a slightly insecure female and a grouchy single father of a 16 year old female. I like that the female is an artist, an ice carver and the male is a wood carver and furniture designer. At times I wanted to hurry through the contrived parts and other times I enjoyed the story. It's a happy ending and ultimately a sweet story but I won't read it again. About half of this story I listened to on Audible and once the narrator relaxed into the story I loved her narration.

Great Romance

Easy listening to a great 💘 love story told so beautifully. Definitely recommend it to any age.
