Publisher's summary

"I couldn't have forgotten about you even if I'd tried. The seas could have frozen over. The heavens could have come crashing down to earth. Time could have stood still, and I would never have been able to cleanse myself of you."

Coralie

Twelve years ago, I ran to stay alive.

Port Royal, South Carolina, was my home. I was born there. I fell in love there. And I nearly died there. I never thought I'd go back. Now, after so many years, I have to return to bury the man who made my life a living hell. Some nights, I used to cry myself to sleep, praying my father would die. Other nights were different. Other nights, there was him.

Callan Cross.

My first confidante. My first kiss. My first love. My first everything: Callan was the glue that held me together when everything else was falling apart. He was my savior. He was there for me whenever I needed him...Until he wasn't.

Every night, I've seen the love of my life in my sleep. I just never thought I'd have to face him again.

Callan

Twelve years ago, I f--ked up big time.

Living life through a camera lens is sometimes easier than dealing with it head on. Scratch that. It's always easier. For over a decade, I've been a master of my art, taking photographs all over the world. Yet despite all of the countries I've visited, the amazing things I've seen, the beautiful women I've screwed, my heart has remained in pieces.

Coralie's the only woman I've ever loved, will ever love. And I'm determined to show her that we're meant to be together. Even if it means unearthing the bones of the past in the process.

A lifetime and a thousand miles have stood between us.

Now, there's no length of time I won't wait, no distance I won't travel, in order to make her mine.

A standalone contemporary romance with hints of darkness. This novel contains serious themes of violence that some listeners might find uncomfortable.

THEIRS WAS A BEAUTIFUL TRAGEDY OF LOSS AND LOVE

I really don’t think I’ve listened to a more heartbreaking and emotionally intense second chance love story.. it was tragic, dark in places, very touching, powerful and compelling. Callie Hart took you on a journey of discovery that was revealed in then and now chapters telling the story of two besotted love struck sweethearts who became inseparable lovers during their late high school years until something went terribly wrong. It took twelve long years before Fate would reunite these broken lovers whose soul-to-soul bond never broke but their meeting was bitter-sweet because devastating and shocking secrets had not only damaged the past.. they were going to have a severe impact on the present rekindled love.

That long ago breakup shaped the damaged hero who never got emotionally involved with his hookups.. but wow the heroine had been through some very tough times whilst growing up with a tyrant of a father who randomly and severely beat her.. very very moving storytelling. Their journey was an emotional rollercoaster of ups and downs, of highs and lows, of good times and bad.. and of love and loss as tragedy tore two lovers apart.. and a death and Destiny reunited them. There were some very tender moving sentiments shared in this addictive dual POV love story. Some good supporting characters and a strong demanding sexy alpha hero who was the ultimate Uber-romantic. And his idea of disposable cameras documenting a decade’s worth of unseen images.. images that were to be revealed ten years after being initially taken, was such an amazingly clever inspirational idea. I’d sure like to turn back the hands of time to capture, then reveal, my own decades worth of random Kodak moments. The angst was sometimes unbelievable, sometimes manufactured, sometimes beautiful and sometimes real. And the narration by Ramona Master fluctuated between good and bad because I often struggled to distinguish who was doing the talking when it came to the hero and heroine.. and then she’d go ahead and knock it out of the park with accents, emotions and a bag full of feels.

Worth a credit? Yes, but hidden in amongst the passion and the pain.. the heartbreak and the healing.. the sad and the sweet.. the romance and the heat, you’ve got to be prepared for some darkly disturbing scenes in an ocean full of fiction and feels.

Heartbreaking Second Chance Love Story!

Callie Hart did an amazing job pulling the listener into an emotional heart wrenching story about two young souls finding love, only to be separated, but fate had a way of bringing them back together. Coralie may have suffered in silence at the hands of her father, but meeting, and falling in love with Callen was how she dealt with his cruelty. Told from dual POV's with past and present scenes, the listener follows the characters as they return back to their hometown to face the demons of their past, reunite, heal, and move forward.

Ramona did a good job on the narration. While it was difficult to distinguish between the characters sometimes, I definitely felt all the raw emotions throughout the whole story.

Calico was an emotional story, with great characters, I especially liked some of the secondary characters. An excellent find!

DNF

I've read the story and loved it but unfortunately the narration was so terrible I couldn't finish. It was so rushed and there is no distinction between voices or even a pause so I couldn't keep up. At all.

Every single feeling!

I received a free copy of this audiobook for review consideration.

If I am not drawn into a story I can't finish, but there are times I can't stop listening. This was one of those that I didn't want to stop. There were spots that were difficult to listen to because of the subject matter, but the author and narrator wove the story and the feelings through so seamlessly for me.

I haven't read this author before this but it won't be my last!

*Abuse warning and loss of child*

I think this could have been so much better with a better narrator. she didn't change your voice for the man's point of view so I got confused sometimes on who was talkin. I think that would have made the story a little clearer of course the flashbacks are always difficult especially if you don't know who's talking. the story itself probably was good but like I said the narrator kind of screws it up for me.

Enjoyable!

I liked it, enjoyed it. I love a strong male character and damsel in distress female. Narrator was good although I was a little confused bc she only had an accent once and awhile, wasn't noticeable enough to take away from the story though :)

Heartbreakingly perfect

Callie Hart and Ramona Masters have given us such a great gift. This audio story and narration grabbed me from the moment I began through to the last word. The story of CoraLee and Callen is exquisite, painful, endearing and raw. One of the best audios I've heard in quite awhile. You are drawn into their story and watch from the sidelines as each moment unfolds. Bravo, well done, and please bring us more.

Emotional Second Chance at Love

Any additional comments?

You can run but you can't hide from your past. It catches up to you sooner or later. Coralie and Callan have learned this the hard way. It's been 12 years and it's time to face their demons.

A gritty, sometimes dark emotional rollercoaster ride of love, forgiveness, secrets, heartbreak, regrets and second chances with a hard fought HEA that is worth every minute of your time. The story pulls you in from the start and never lets go.

The first time they see each other at the church and Callan says her name you can feel and hear the emotion in his voice.

The story is told through both Coralie and Callan's POV in the present as well as flashbacks to the past.

Coralie and Callan were meant to be together. They are soulmates and they both know it.Circumstances and secrets tore them apart. Neither of them could ever forget the other. Coralie kept devastating secrets from Callan when they were younger. He never completely understood everything that was going on. He has blamed himself for years. Those secrets are about to be revealed, they are heartbreaking and it will change everything.

Ramona Masters did a good job with the narration overall. Pleasant voice. Clearly spoken. The narration in the beginning didn't always flow smoothly. There was a slight hesitation when she was going from one line to the next. At times her narration was a bit to fast for my taste. After a couple of chapters she found her rhythm and her narration flowed more evenly. She has some really good character voices, at the same time she needs a bit more difference between her male and female characters. She was able to make you feel the emotions of the characters through her narration and bring the story to life.

Personally, this is one of those stories that would have been even better with dual narration.

High School Lovers Second Chance Romance

Any additional comments?

I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom. This second chance romance (High School Lovers) was not what I was expecting. Callie Hart did an excellent job with pulling on my heartstrings and providing plenty of angst, and a HEA. Ramona Master brought the characters to life and had me captivated the whole time. I was hook, line and sinkered with all the mystery and events of the past, that I was anxious to know what happened and loved how it was revealed throughout the book. I highly recommend this audiobook!
