Publisher's summary

Aspen "Blade" Carlisle is the last of his Delta Force team to find love...and he’s pretty bummed about that fact. Which might explain why he finds himself chatting up a telemarketer as if she’s a long-lost friend. But Wendy is surprisingly easy to talk to, so when they go from occasional calls during her work, to nightly conversations on their cells, it somehow feels right. So right, Blade eventually convinces the funny, sweet woman to meet him in person.

When their first face-to-face meeting gets high-jacked, Wendy Tucker is sure she and Aspen made a big mistake in taking their relationship to the next level. But the man is nothing if not persistent. Before long, Wendy’s allowing the handsome soldier to spend more time with her and Jack, the teen brother she’s raising, than anyone she’s ever dated. Though she knows there are limits to how close she can get to Aspen, no matter how much she likes him. Limits carefully constructed to protect Wendy and Jack from a past they’ve been running from for years.

But dating Blade means having an entire team of Deltas at her back. Which may come in handy not just with Wendy’s past...but also when her brother faces a current threat.

Rescuing Wendy is the eighth book in the Delta Force Heroes series. Each book is a standalone, with no cliffhanger endings.

Stoker does it again- a one click author for me

Aspen is all the things we expect from Stoker- protective, sexy, patient and a badass. I liked how this couple met and how they took it slow. The heroines inability to trust got a little on my nerves as, I felt, it dragged on some but with her age when tragedy struck I kept reminding myself she had a kind of PTSD. The action and dialogue are believable. I have wanted Truck's story from when we first met him so I am super psyched it is next. Please write faster Susan : )

Great story in series!

Another really entertaining audiobook in Susan Stokers Delta Force series. This is Blade and Wendy’s story. Blade and Wendy meet when she calls him while working her telemarketing job and they started talking. After months of talking often, Blade wants to actually meet her and she agrees. Unfortunately, things don’t go as planned and they are off to a rocky start. Wendy lives with her teenage brother who she has been taking care of since their parents died when she was 16. Blade wants to know Wendy much better, but she’s hiding something and is evasive about her past.
Then a bunch of thugs start terrorizing the local high school, including her brother and his new girlfriend. Things get complicated and the Team has to intervene. Can Wendy ever trust Blade enough to tell him her secrets? Narration was excellent.

Recommended

This story is a little different from most of the other stories in this series. The relationship between Wendy & Blade begins without any life or death drama and progresses naturally. It would seem this story ordinary with the typical bumps and bruises but in fact it is pivotal for the Delta team. You'll just have to listen/read it to find out why.

Favorite one

Susan has over the last couple months become one of my favorite authors. I’ve listened to eagle point…the Hawaii seals and California seals and now the Texas delta force. Blade and Wendy is my favorite so far. I listened in one day. I can’t stop.
