Publisher's summary

“The world has a way of defining you if you don’t know who you are before you get out there.” (Candace Cameron Bure)

As a woman in today’s world, you know what it’s like to feel pressure on all sides from clashing cultural expectations. How can you stay true to who God has uniquely created you to be in the face of the script you’ve been given? What’s more, how can you stand your ground with grace?

The classy confidence you know and love - whether it’s on set at Full House or Fuller House, Dancing with the Stars, The View, or Candace’s Hallmark films - is no act. But it hasn’t come easy. In fact, learning to stay true to herself with grace has been one of the biggest fights of Candace’s life.

The secret, she has learned, is kindness: it’s classy, unexpected, even counter-cultural, and ultimately wins the day.

In Kind Is the New Classy, Candace reveals the thought patterns and practices that have empowered her to stay centered in who she is while practicing radical graciousness toward others. Whether you’re navigating major life choices, questions of calling and career, relationships, or personal goals, this book will show you how to:

  • Keep your cool under pressure
  • Respond to criticism with grace
  • Stay grounded yet go places in life
  • Stay true to who you are despite the expectations of others
  • Stay centered in what ultimately matters the most

Kind Is the New Classy is your permission to go off-script, to say goodbye to society’s "should"s, and to step into a new way to flourish as a woman today.

Pleasantly Suprised

I honestly never expected to like her book as much as I did. I thought Candace and I would have nothing in common and that I would be reading a book (hearing) from someone way too conservative for me to even relate to. What actually happened was I found myself shaking my head in agreement with basically everything she said. It was refreshing and uplifting and she made me want to set goals to do some of the things she spoke about. Slowly but surely I wanted to create a list of different gracious acts to complete. I found myself smiling and thinking of ways to show I care more. I also found myself reaching for my bible to read the scriptures she mentions. I’ll be buying the actual book since she mentions a lot of great scriptures that you can go to and help guide you or clear your mind. Her book also made me realize we’re a lot more alike than I thought when it comes to our beliefs and way we view the world and people. I’m going to purchase her first book now and continue this journey with her. Hope she spoke to your heart like she did to mine!

Lots of Jesus and Christian references! Also Gems of how anyone could be kind.

Not knowing much about Candice I was shocked at how this was really a book about how to become a born again Christian versus what the title said.

However the gems of how to live your life being kind and treating others with respect are spot on! I totally agree that the world would be better if we all treated each other this way.

Not being a Christian This book helped me understand how they use Jesus in every day life. Lots of respect on dealing with difficult situations. Thanks for being open and vulnerable.

very very religion oriented.

as an atheist i was so uncomfortable that I couldn't make it past the first chapter. but that is completely my experience, Christians would probably love it.

Classy and REFRESHING

I love Candace’s message in this book, and she presents it with such a humble, loving tone.
She touches on so many areas of life that women face and gives a positive, useful perspective to live out womanhood with grace. She is sweet, yet bold, and does not shy from truth. The book is well written and delightful to listen to on the Audible format. This book encouraged me that there are still uncompromising Christian authors out there that aren’t completely sealed in their own little bubble. This book will help you learn how to be a woman in the world, not of it in practical ways.

Not a memoir

I got this book because it was in the memoir category. I love memoirs even, and sometimes especially, when they don't seem like the kind of people I'm usually into. Performer memoirs read by the author are almost a sure thing. They know what they want to say and how they want to say it.

Unfortunately, this is not a memoir. It's a self-help book. I'm not knocking that genre or the contents here as it relates to that genre. I'm rating it based on what I expected verses what I got. I wanted to hear about her personal stories and experiences, not listen to her lecture.

This book was made for me!!!

This is my favorite CCB book so far. It really hit home. I talked to my husband about it as I was listening.. and he told me he agreed 100% with CCB and it applied directly to a situation we were currently dealing with. If I ever wrote a book, it would be just like this. She took everything I think, feel and desire and put it in this book. I loved it! I may have to listen to it again soon! Thanks CCB!!

Such a sweetheart that Candace!

I already really like Candace from Fuller House, just catching up a few decades late to Full House. I missed out back in the 90's. She speaks truth, common sense and has a great speaking voice. You can feel her positivity coming through your speakers. I really liked her chapter on not being alone too much and bringing friends into your life for support. A great example of a Christian that is successfully navigating the craziness of our world today. Super easy listen and is uplifting. A good time to listen to this book is on the way to work when you know you could use an extra boost to deal with folks at work.
