Publisher's Summary

There's a little bit about Mary in Scripture. We can glean a bit more from the tradition of the Church. Some of the approved apparitions add a little insight, too. But where can we go to get the complete picture, to find out about the whole Mary? In an engaging style, Chris Padgett walks us through what the Bible has to say about the Mother of God. What has she meant to the Church throughout the centuries? What do the apparitions add? What have the saints told us about her? And most importantly, what can we learn from her ourselves?

What the Critics Say

"Chris Padgett brings a welcome invasion of the reality of Mary into the intimacy of your own home. Rediscover how Mary is not only relevant but essential in the Church, the world, and your personal, everyday life." (Brad Farmer, Catholic evangelist and cofounder of APeX Ministries)
"The saints have often said that we can never have enough of Mary. In this book about Our Lady, Chris Padgett provides ample reason for why this is true. Written in a very personal style, I highly recommend this book for those who desire to know and love Our Lady in a more personal way!" (Fr. Donald Calloway, author of No Turning Back: A Witness to Mercy)

Dogmatic, doesn't talk about Mary muxh

Much more interested in the dogma of the Church than in Mary. For example, in the chapter on apparitions the author mainly discussed how apparitions are approved rather than the details major recognized apparitions and what we can learn from them. He seemed pretty dismissive of them also. Similarly after a few sentences of examples of Saints that venerated Mary, he discusses the idea of Saints and our relationship to them, not a study of how Saints venerated Mary. Overall, very disappointed.

Very Impressive

Any additional comments?

This is a very impressive book. Chris does a great job explaining Mary and her role in Christianity. He does a fantastic job explaining, in brief, the four most controversial dogmas of the Catholic faith regarding Mary; something that is not easy to find with other authors. He also discusses and explains Marian Apparitions; what they are and what they are not.

He starts the book asking three questions. What is Marian devotion all about? Why should we care about Mary? And if we do have a reason.... what is the best way to approach this subject? Chris approaches this subject is a very understandable and straight forward way. I particularly recommend this book for Catholics. Many of my Catholic brothers and sisters lack their own understanding of Mary in the plan of salvation; let alone our many protestant brothers and sisters that don't understand why the Church has such high regard for Mary.

From this book you might presume that Chris is a cradle Catholic. What his book doesn't mention is that Chris, in fact, grew up protestant and has a very interesting conversion story. His background gives this book even more depth and makes it even more interesting.

I highly recommend this book.
