Publisher's summary

In this intimate and funny collection of essays on the sometimes confusing, sometimes poignant, sometimes hilarious condition of being a woman over 60, Susan Moon keeps her sense of humor and she keeps her listener fully engaged. Among the pieces she has included here are an essay on the gratitude she feels for her weakening bones; observations on finding herself both an orphan and a matriarch following the death of her mother; musings on her tendency to regret the past; thoughts on how not to be afraid of loneliness; appreciation for the inner tomboy; and celebratory advice on how to regard "senior moments" as opportunities to be in the here and now.

Kill me now

The attempt at cheerfulness doesn't succeed in covering up a downbeat recitation. Disclaimer – the book might have gotten better after the first hour or two, but I was gone by then. After the recitation of various illnesses and a defensive rationalization of the joys of being old and alone (READ: single), I just couldn't take it anymore.

I am 75 years old and, believe me, old age is not this bad.

Not My View on Getting Old

I found this book to be depressing not funny or inspiring. The narration was dull, monotone and lifeless. Some stories could have been funny if there had been more inflection in the narration. I am 75 and have experienced some of the same situations as the author discussed in the book. I did enjoy the references to "Zen" and Buddhism. However, I could not relate to the author's discussion of humor and dignity in aging.

Too much

She wrote too much about her relationship with her mother( that’s a lifetime experience not an old age one) and her battle with loneliness. Again a lifetime struggle not old age related. Very little of substance about aging and adjustments.
Would not recommend it

Raw

I guess it wasn't as humourous as I expected. I like the voice to have more emotion . It did make me think about living rather than aging.

Very relatable

Loved the authors voice, insight and humor taking us into the process of aging. Loved the specificity of some chapters, ie. Zen practice with aging knees. Found myself saying and thinking “me too” with delight in not being alone in thinking and experiencing these things. Highly recommended.

Hello, Goodbye

She had me at hello but it was goodbye when Obama was brought into the story …as a good president. Think again and I’m neither Republican or Democrat.

Unfavorable!

I'd rather not as my comments are not favorable. Nothing more to say, sorry. Nothing.
