Publisher's summary

In this remarkable dialogue between Hidayat Inayat-Khan and Deepak Chopra, M.D., the wisdom of the Sufis is appraised. Hidayat defines the word Sufi as "wisdom and purity". He explains that "any person whose heart is attuned to the Divine presence is a Sufi, because Sufism means purifying oneself and one's mind from preconceived ideas".

These two great teachers discuss the fact that the spiritual message of the Sufis has always found its way to express itself through music and poetry, illuminations of life's expression, and Sufism is now gathering a great deal of popularity in the West. The Sufi Universe is the home of all religions, all beliefs, and all lovers of truth, without distinction between race, color, or nationality!

Not really my cup of tea

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Spiritual people who like chants and Eastern music

What was most disappointing about Hidayat Inayat-Khan and Deepak Chopra ’s story?

Hidayat Inayat-Khan is difficult to understand because of his pronunciation and intonation. It takes a lot of effort to understand what he is saying and the meaning of sentences is lost because I can't understand individual words.

Would you be willing to try another one of Hidayat Inayat-Khan and Deepak Chopra ’s performances?

There are many Deepak Chopra books that I have enjoyed but I wouldn't try another Hidayat Inayat-Khan book unless it had another reader.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Wisdom of the Sufis?

All of it. The discourses need rewriting and simplifying
