Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Maybe. If my friend had a lot of questions about the subject of grace, I might suggest this book.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Truth About Grace?
The definition of grace - God's unmerited favor - I know the author didn't come up with that, but I liked the attention that definition received in the book. That's a simple concept that has far-reaching implications for the Christian life.
Which scene was your favorite?
I don't know that there was a "scene" in this book that stands out to me so much as the attention that the definition of grace received.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, but it was somewhat difficult to get through in some places (it gets a little preachy at times).
Any additional comments?
I got a lot out of this study of grace, but I can't say that it was very encouraging, which is something I look for in Christian books.
On the one hand, what could be more encouraging than knowing that God Almighty has chosen to bestow his favor and mercy on you. I get that, but I guess I needed to hear a little more about how God makes it possible for us to live under grace the way He intends.
It seemed somewhat "preachy" to me, at times, because of the implication that we should be despondent if we fail God. We're going to fail Him. That's why we need grace. I also understand that grace doesn't give us a reason to sin, but what about the impassioned plea to pray to the God who loves us so very deeply to help us with sin and daily life? I didn't hear much about that.
To be fair, I tend to judge most Christian works by The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence, so maybe that's why it didn't speak to me as much.

This was a solid scriptural explanation of grace but I thought it was directed more toward new believers. What grace is, why people need it, how it helps them, etc. I didn't find much in this one that I didn't already know which I guess is a good thing for me. Highly recommended for new believers and still a good refresher for those who have learned this material elsewhere already.
