Publisher's Summary

In The Mission of God's People, part of the Biblical Theology for Life series, author Chris Wright offers a sweeping biblical survey of the holistic mission of the church, providing practical insight for today's church leaders. Wright gives special emphasis to theological trajectories of the Old Testament that not only illuminate God's mission but also suggest priorities for Christians engaged in God's world-changing work.

Very good

This is an impressive book. I did not realize what I was getting into when I picked it up. Wright (the current head of the foundation that John Stott started for training Christian leaders around the world) is writing a follow up to his previous book The Mission of God. This book seems to be covering similar ground (I haven't read the other, just reviews) but from a different perspective. This book is looking at the way that God has used his people (Israel in the OT and the church in the NT) and how we should learn from the ways that God has used others in the past. This is very good look at reading the Old Testament with respect to what we know of Christ from the New. I highly recommend this and I will be re-reading in print again soon.

Best book on & mission I've read

It's also the best book on whole-life discipleship I've ever read. It's brilliant, compelling, moving, inspiring. I love it.

Recommended listening

The author combines good writing (and reading) with a profound and well thought out Biblical narrative. It is deeply Christian and it makes sense

Some aspects of this book are not great for audio books, you need to pause it at times and just stop and think, and of course it is handy to have a Bible. However, it is great listening, you just need to listen more than once to get the full benefit, and be prepared to stop and ponder every so often.

He brings the whole Biblical Narrative together to tell the big story and make sense of it. This has to be my favourite Christian book of the last few years.

While this book is profound, it is not dry. It made me think, but I enjoyed it.
