Nice Biblical Summary

I don't know why Audible lists the narrator as Grover Gardner. John Ratzenberger is the reader, and he does a great job of it. I kind of got the feeling that I was having a one sided conversation with Cliff from Cheers, but that was a good thing. I got a lot of information from the book, but it rapidly shifts from one chapter to the next, and sometimes if I wasn't listening carefully, I wasn't sure what book of the Bible he was talking about. This was a minor problem however, and it's a book that I think I would enjoy listening to several more times. I learned so much from my first listen.

Not a Guide (idiot or otherwise) to the Good Book

Any additional comments?

Ok, the Bible is a great book and should be read. If having John (Cliff from Cheers) Ratzenberger read it helps some folks get through it then wonderful! However, this is not a "Guide to the Bible". It is Ratzenberger reading passages from the Bible. There is no interpretation, or historical, or political context. No references to what was going on that may have influenced Biblical writers or the subsequent Church's use of the various texts. I recently read "An idiots Guide to the Koran" which provided wonderful insight into how that text and faith came together. This does none of that. Very disappointing title.
