Publisher's summary

John the apostle must have thought he had seen everything. Having been with Jesus all the years of his ministry, John witnessed more miracles than he could count, saw more displays of power than he could comprehend, and experienced more love than he could fathom. And one unforgettable morning, young John outran Peter to his Savior's empty tomb.

Just as Christ took John on a lifelong journey into the depths of His love, He will do the same for you. The bridegroom's love is unmatched and inexhaustible, and He is waiting to lavish it on you, His beloved. You will not be the same.

Great love story!

The writing was great. The narration was great. And there is nothing like remembering that Good called us to love.

A wonderful stud

Love tbe way Beth approaches scripture and the research put into . She weaves information into each part of the study that gives further understanding of the background of culture and history of the times. I enjoy how she puts herself on every page and allows us to have a glimpse into events in her life. Beth is so natural and though she may not see it a wondr gifted teacher of God's word.

As always Beth Moore delivers a great book.

What made the experience of listening to The Beloved Disciple the most enjoyable?

I have to say I found the reader of this book was boring. I did not enjoy listening due to that fact. I found myself losing interest and being distracted; not due to book content but due to the reader.

Could not even finish this book

Look I am a born again Christian who loves to read inspirational books about faith. I also like any good book that is challenging and intelligent and cerebral. I absolutely LOVE BETH MOORE. But this book is kinda slow and boring. If you have a very good working knowledge of the bible, and primarily the gospels, then this book may be too elementary for you. Yes, Beth does have a very warm way of bringing the listener in, but Im not a mushy gushy woman. If you are a mushy emotional woman who wants to get into the head of some of the gospel authors then this will probably be a good fit for you. If however you are a bras tax, show me a formula and a reason for the system type, then this book will bore you also. It was sweet and fine for a lot of people, just not for me.

did not download properly.

could not download due to some kind of internal error. Not sure how to remove and save my credit for another book, or remove from Audible account all together and try to download again from a fresh screen in amazon and try downloading it again.

Not a Serious Commentary on John's Gospel

I agree with the earlier review - I had trouble staying with this one.

One thing I do like about this work is that she definitely comes down on the side of the Beloved Disciple being John, rather than some otherwise unknown disciple as many NT scholars seem to think. This allows her to add some depth to his character and what was behind his writing.

It becomes something of a liability for Ms. Moore, however, as she spends almost half of the book talking about the Life of Jesus before she actually gets into John's Gospel. That may be okay for some people, but you just need to understand that this is not a serious commentary on the Gospel itself.

She seems to be writing in a daily journal and sharing her thoughts with the reader. Again, that's fine if it's what you're looking for. But frankly I don't care if she's having a bad day when she's writing a particular passage or not, and I don't care if she's so excited about what she's writing that she is standing up while she's typing.

And I'm really not interested in her life or her experiences or the struggles she has had to endure personally. I just wanted some insight into John's Gospel, and there wasn't nearly enough of that in this book.

If you want something that's touchy-feely, that makes you feel like you're spending time with an imaginary friend over a cup of chamomile tea, then this book may be for you. Otherwise, you'll be disappointed.
