A lifelong pursuit of knowing God should embody the Christian's existence. According to eminent theologian J.I. Packer, however, Christians have become enchanted by modern skepticism and have joined the "gigantic conspiracy of misdirection" by failing to put first things first. Knowing God aims to redirect our attention to the simple, deep truth that to know God is to love His Word.

Story
It’s true: heartache, grief, suffering, and obstacles—they all come in waves. There is no controlling life’s storms; there is only learning the way to walk through the waves. In WayMaker, bestselling author Ann Voskamp hands us a map that makes meaning of life and shows the way through to the places we’ve only dreamed of reaching. In the face of suffering through seemingly unbearable situations, we can rest in the fact that we are not alone. In her signature captivating poetic style, Ann reveals how God is present in the totality of our lives.

Story
Kelly Sundberg’s husband, Caleb, was a funny, warm, supportive man and a wonderful father to their little boy Reed. He was also vengeful and violent. But Sundberg did not know that when she fell in love, and for years told herself he would get better. It took a decade for her to ultimately accept that the partnership she desired could not work with such a broken man. In her remarkable book, she offers an intimate record of the joys and terrors that accompanied her long, difficult awakening, and presents a haunting, heartbreaking glimpse into why women remain too long in dangerous relationships.

Story
With its promise of escape from the strains of everyday life, the beach has a hold on the popular imagination as the ultimate paradise. In The Last Resort, Sarah Stodola dives into the psyche of the beachgoer and gets to the heart of what drives humans to seek out the sand. At the same time, she grapples with the darker realities of resort culture: strangleholds on local economies, reckless construction, erosion of beaches, weighty carbon footprints, and the inevitable overdevelopment and decline that comes with a soaring demand for popular shorelines.

A very inspirational Devotional!
A very inspirational Devotional!
It is full of practical life experiences, well written and well realized. Hope the examples could be updated and the living editor should make them speak to current post-modern generation.
Also, it apparently got frozen in the sad life bitter experiences of the lady writer. Should be toned up to be more cheerful.
It has been my devotional for about ten years now.n

So uplifting!!
Words are inadequate to express the effect of this book on my soul. Steeped in Scripture and Christian maturity, the beautiful devotions and poetry remind me to always see God in and through every circumstance no matter how difficult or painful. Somehow hearing it was more impactful than reading it. I just wish that Volume 2 had been recorded, too.

Gave it a try for a few months after receiving a recommendation and didn't like it
Poetic. Just okay. Very few gold nuggets! Each day does not feel like one complete thought. Not a devo (which is what my friend suggested it was)
Some days totally have a valid point in many cases, but can also place unrealistic expectations on the listener since not all physical or emotional ailments can be cured with trust or hope. (ie: cancer)
The VO artist clearly recorded a section of spots while she was sick (I'm an actress and you can hear it- it distracts the listener from the message and is just annoying!) Overall, her tone doesn't provide clear communication, but rather a rhythmic trance.
