Publisher's summary

Old Path White Clouds presents the life and teachings of Gautama Buddha. Drawn directly from 24 Pali, Sanskrit, and Chinese sources, and retold by Thich Nhat Hanh in his inimitably beautiful style, this book traces the Buddha's life slowly and gently over the course of 80 years, partly through the eyes of Svasti, the buffalo boy, and partly through the eyes of the Buddha himself. Old Path White Clouds is destined to become a classic of religious literature.

Thich Nhat Hanh’s magnum opus!

Not only is Thich Nhat Hanh one of the most knowledgeable people alive who knows the Buddha’s story, but he tells it in such a narratively engaging way. I was worried this would be a purely factual history of the Buddha’s life, but it was a very well told story filled with facts about the Buddha, his family, his disciples, and his dharma. I should also note that I’m new to Buddhism, and found this very easy to follow along with. Last but not least, the narrator does a fantastic job. He has a soft, but clear voice, and gives different voices to different characters making it easy to understand. Must listen to anyone remotely interested in the Buddha’s story.

Wonderful!

A lovely reading of one of my favorite books. The narrator's peaceful voice perfectly embodied the Buddha's words. I felt as if I entered into the life and times of Siddharta, Svasti the Buffalo Boy, Rahula the Humble Prince and Ananda, the Faithful Attendant. A very moving experience, indeed.
