The founder of the world's largest religious media empire shares her beloved wit and down-to-earth spirituality in Mother Angelica's Private and Pithy Lessons from the Scriptures. Editor Raymond Arroyo draws on hundreds of never-before-released private lessons to present the renowned nun's definitive take on the Good Book. Angelica provides readers with guided meditations and probing personal questions, and unearths an often-overlooked practical spirituality. She doesn't just explain the stories, she relates them to our daily lives, helping even those who've never opened the Bible appreciate its power and life-altering lessons. The apostles Paul (the little shrimp), Peter (that great bungler), and all the characters of the scriptures are suddenly human again, complete with their foibles and triumphs. Here is the Greatest Story, newly told as only Mother Angelica can. The Bible and you will never be the same.More
Editor Raymond Arroyo gathers together some of the best Biblical teachings from Mother Angelica, television personality and Franciscan nun, in this funny and relatable compilation of over 30 years of comprehensive private lessons she gave to her nuns as well as assorted lay groups. Mother Angelica's gift is taking Scripture and making the characters human and relatable, with a no-nonsense and often humorous approach. Lorna Raver doesn't attempt easy impersonation in her performance, but rather approximates Mother Angelica's straight-to-the-point wryness with a smart and clever tone. These private lessons are pithy, yes, but also enlightening.

Meditation at its best!!!
A fresh approach to Scripture that you can apply
Yes. Mother's unique and down-to-earth style made learning about Holy Scripture in this a very easy way to which I could relate. I especially enjoyed Mother Angelica's views on the saints and how we can identify with their humanity. There is so much knowledge here, that relistening is a must.
